Am I the **ONLY** person who dislikes Yachtsman?

Their onion rolls are my favorite bread item on property, but I thought the steak was just OK. I'd go again, but would probably order something other than steak. The purple yam pasta entree looked interesting, if they will still have that.

Just us.... Having been to Yachtsman, and Shula's (Dolphin) ? We always go to Shula's.
TIW accepted, no DDP. Our dear adopted CM Daughter (a stunning server at a major WDW SIG), seems to agree with our choice :).

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

Try Yachtsman again only ask for Barry as a server. Exceptional service and an incredible man.

We tried last year for Father's Day. It was an awful meal, awful service....just awful.

We love a good steak and were really looking forward to it. It was so bad, that we will not be back. There are too many other places to eat that are better.

This is a big problem with many WDW sigs, IMO. Based on my own experiences there, your terrible meal doesn't seem to be the rule. I just wish they all were more consistent in quality and service, particularly for the price tag. I have noticed though, that many non-Disney operated restaurants on property are much more reliable (ie Tokyo Dining, Marrakesh, and the Swan & Dolphin options).

I have had great meals at Yachtsman, but one night, I got a terribly overcooked (as in, I ordered medium rare & it came out 100% grey), gristly steak, and its requested replacement was no better :( Our server ended up removing it from the bill. Someone who had that experience as their one and only experience with Yachtsman would absolutely not have had a good impression of the restaurant.

I think that most of the time, it's a nice place with good food and we usually go when we are staying at BC/YC.

I agree that those looking for a great steak dinner at WDW should really consider Shula's as an option.

I LOVE steak, but I can't imagine a scenario where I would ever eat there. DH and I live in New Orleans (and have an Arkansas lake home). I can have an off the charts meal at Galatoire's or Commander's Palace for about half the price of eating at Yachtsman's.

The service at Commander's is just unbelievable. Always has been, but as we eat there on a regular basis they treat us like family. Galatoire's too. The father of one of my long-time friends was a waiter at Galatoire's for decades. Boy do we get the red carpet when we go there with her.

You are not the only one! We went for an anniversary dinner a few years ago and had atrocious service. The food wasn't really our thing, but I don't put that on the restaurant; I put that on us not knowing until then that we weren't fans of dry-aged steak.

We went to the Yatchsman for dinner one year and I was underwhelmed. I am not a huge fan of steak, so this is probably why. Hubby and I were looking for a place for a good dinner without the kids. He was all about the steak. For me, the atmosphere is just as important as the food. It just did not do it for me. Am I the only one?
We love the Yachtsman. I'm sure you're not alone, though. Different strokes...

We had a pretty bad service experience followed by meh food about 5 years ago, so no, it's not just you.

We checked in 15 min before our adr and sat on a bench right next to the hostess stand (i think there's been a remodel since then so idk if those benches still exist). Then we waited for 45 min. The first 15 min was before adr time, so no big deal. The next 15 - 20 min, we just figured they were running behind. However, we could hear everything at the hostess stand, and couples with adrs after ours were being seated, so we finally asked the hostess what was going on, and she told us she called our name a couple times and we didn't answer so they took us off the list.

Now, i wasn't kidding when i said i could hear every word said at the hostess stand. We were right there. If she had called our name, we would have heard it. We have common enough names they would have been pronounced correctly. When i pointed that all out to her (nicely), she had no idea what to say, and finally ran off; someone else came out to tell us they would seat us next (which they did, but it was almost 45 min after adr time).

Frankly, if she had just said they mistakenly crossed us off the list (what I'm assuming happened), that would have been fine. What i don't appreciate is the obvious lying.

After that, our food was mediocre and our service slow. We decided we would not be back.

I would go for the rolls!! They are delicious!

We always booked YSH every trip and had always had excellent food and service. A few years ago our meal was just so bad. If it could go wrong or be wrong, it was. The poor server was flabbergasted. We were there when there were new menu items, The drink menu was new and not good. Sides were new, and not good. The steaks were gristly, and you guessed it...not good.

I know we had an off night because one time out of several means that the evening was an anomoly, however my family has not been driven to go back since. I woudl still suggest folks try it if they want. I always liked that teh atmosphere was quiet and understated, which was what we needed after the stimulation in the parks.

I thought it was no big deal. I thought the atmosphere was boring and the food basic and I haven't been back in years. Good reviews make me want to try it but I'd rather go somewhere with more interesting food and atmosphere, like Flying Fish.

The rest of my family loved it the two times we've been. I'm not a steak lover so the last time I went next door to Crew's Cup and had an amazing burger and beverage with some quiet time to myself. That was heaven for me!

We held my parents-in-law’s 50th Anniversary dinner there. It was an auspicious occasion for sure, and the Yachtsman delivered in every way.

The service was top notch, the food was divine, and we had an excellent experience that none of us will ever forget.

To each, their own. Everyone is not going to enjoy everywhere.

FF is really good! I went with my friend and it was among our best meals, and we ate well that trip.

We were planning to stay at the boardwalk but the new DVC website rolled out the night before I tried to split my reservation and we are at VWL now (kiddo is happy with that) first half and then Poly 2nd half. So FF was a no brainer at first... my kid loves "routine" and to him our Disney routine is we do two signatures, lol. CA Grill is the default and then another. After watching a bunch of disney food reviews on youtube he had decided he wanted FF as his second. I read a review here where someone got a plain steak and fries there so that would take care of the kiddo and I could have something a little more daring. The atmosphere is so lovely, even though it's a bit more effort to get there now I'm thinking it might be worth it to make that effort... none of the other ones feels as appealing right now even though there are more convenient locations in the MK area!

The food was really good, as was the service. I did think it was noisy, however for me it was part of the charm.

I liked the old flying fish and the one one, while beautiful, has a much more adult vibe. but with kiddo getting older I don't think that would be a problem. We'd probably go right at opening anyway and they tend to be quieter then!

Before the refurb I found the atmosphere interesting at Flying Fish. Since then, not so much. Theming has been toned way down.
