Am I the only one????

My family is sailing on the Sept 14th 7 night cruise and I have to ask if I am the only one here who has started packing???? I have our dressier clothes ironed and in the suitcase 9who's goinna dress up at home anyway) and I have alot of the shorts etc. that will be making the trip with us in neat stackes in my room waiting to go into another suitcase. My family thinks I have lost my mind but I allways pack early being that I am the one who does it. With working and getting the kids ready to goback to school and just all the regular day to day stuff it seems there isn't enough time to do it all so I start early. So am I the only one????
I also got our cruise documents last week one day and have them on top of our entertainment center just waiting to be filled out, so am I CRAZY or do you do it too??????

The only reason I don't pack now for our 9/21 7 day is that I'll probably have to take everything out and iron it again before we leave. I do have all the toiletries and such in a bag in the closet, and all the new clothes I bought in one drawer, though. Anita.

no, you are not crazy. i don't go until October, and i have a pile of things in my spare room next to my suitcases that I am gathering to pack.

Not at all! We usually clear the dining room table and begin picking out clothes, and laying out what's going with about 60 days out. We're usually completely ready the last week before we go. I'd caution against actually closing it all up in the suitcase to avoid excessive wrinkling, however.

And definitely fill out all the documents in the booklets before you go! It makes checking in at the port very effortless.

I'm not going until November and I plan on beginning to pack as soon as the kids head back to school. Most of what we have to bring are summer clothes and when the head back to school they won't need most of it anymore. Instead of packing up clothes for the season I'm going to pack for the cruise. Better to start at your leisure than be stressed before you go.

I am usually a very big planner and this is the most fun I have ever had planning a vacation (probably because there are so many of us going and because I FINALLY found the Dis Board for this vacation - it was what I was always looking for - Thanks!!)

I would LOVE to be able to start to gather all of our stuff up and put it all together, but DH said NO WAY!! He doesn't like having things "out of place" this many days away - mind you we have a packing track record of the night before we leave and I am still doing laundry of things that we need to take - no stress!! We very rarely forget things, because I do have a list and I check things off as I go.

I want this packing time to be different, but I have DH on my case!! He thinks I am nuts being on this board all the time, but I am addicted and I love it!!

Thank you all for the excitement of planning a DCL vacation, besides half the fun is planning it - right?

We head to the airport 15 wks (105 days) from today!! Ive already started making a pile of clothes for DH & DS. It's hidden in a closet though. Everytime Ive bought something new for either of them it goes in their piles.
I do have a written list of who owns what clothes and what will be worn with what and when.
I'll most likely begin with the suitcase Sept 3rd. We still have 2 mini-vacas left to enjoy this summer.

Oh, PLEASE! We don't go till Feb 15 and I've already got lists of everything I'm taking, suitcase sized toiletries purchased and just today I bought my extra camera batteries. There's nothing "crazy" about it all. It's so much easier (and impacts the checking account so much less) to do it all early. Besides, you can figure out if you're missing anything with plenty of time to maybe pick it up on sale giving you a chance to actually save some money by being an early bird too.

We are going on the Sept. 14 Magic as well. I have been putting things aside for quite some time now. The luggage is out, but not opened yet.

Have you signed up on the thread for our date yet?? Look for the roll call for Sept. 14 and say hello. We have a list of cruises and where they are from and ages etc.

How old are your kids?? Mine are 14 and 15.

Hard to believe it is so close now!!!!

I too was so excited about our trip that I started to pack three weeks prior - when I usually pack the night before. I found it helpful to loadup my over-the-door shoe holder as I ran across suggestions on the board as well as keeping a list. However, once we were on the cruise - I NEVER USED THE SHOE HANGER!!! But it was great for packing!! Some of the best items we brought were - quarters and soap for the laundry, lots of wine with opener and stoppers, beach cabana, neat sheet, underwater camera, plastic baggies, goggles for the kids, Bullfrog 45 Sunblock, and American Express Checks!!!
