Am I the only one?

I too, pack light. I don't want to have to go through the parks feeling like I'm a pack mule. Our DD is a teenager, but even when she was little, we packed ONLY what we needed and nothing more. In fact, I transfer most of my stuff to my camera case or a fanny pack. No offense to those who haul around a lot, but I always wonder why????? and feel sorry for you at the same time.

Given that we have a 2 year old, there are things that we have to bring that are unvoidable. Sippy cup... diapering supplies... some distraction "toys" for when we are trying to eat a meal... sunscreen... cell phones...

However, with a 2 year old, also comes a stroller... So it's simple to just put these things in the stroller and carry nothing! I bring a small bag to put valuables in when we are all away from the stroller, but that's the only time I actually "carry" something... Unless I'm carrying my daughter somewhere. ;)

The crocs aren't something you carry.... LOL They are simply something that I wouldn't want to go without! :teeth:

I'm an underpacker!

I pack: sunscreen (small bottle), cell phone, pda, sunglasses and lip balm. I use a very small wallet that I attach to my belt loops (Coach wristlet) that has a few bucks, keys to the world and a cc).

That's it!

DH carries the SLR digital camera and mints.

DS carries himself!

If I can't put it in my pockets, it stays in the hotel. Half the time, I won't even bring sunglasses, as I don't want to deal with trying to hold on to them on ToT or Aerosmith.

Obviously, I don't have kids :)

I'm just curious: Does anyone not carry their cell phones to the parks. I can understand if you're with a group and splitting up, but what I usually do is carry my phone to Florida, then leave it in the room safe, checking it every night for messages. My family know I'm on vacation and if they need me I'll get back to them at night, but otherwise am unavailable.

Every time I'm in line for a ride or even just walking through the parks I can't believe the number of people who have their ears glued to their cell phones. Not flaming anyone, but just think it's funny!

By the way usually all I carry is a very small digital camera bag. It has a center pocket just big enough for my camera, a small pocket on the back that holds one of those little clear wallet divider thingies that holds a credit card, my ID, room key, AP, and a few dollars. It then has a tiny front pocket that holds an extra set of camera batteries and an extra memory card. It's about 6"x4"x3". It has a long shoulder strap or it can be hooked to a belt loop.

I don't carry my phone because I don't have nationwide long distance. If I did, I might carry it just to call my DSIL to gloat  "Guess where I am! Guess what I'm doing?" But I don't so I don't. If I didn't have to carry our ponchos, for me and DS16, I wouldn't bring my small backpack but since I do bring it I will bring our resort mugs so we can get a drink before and after the bus ride at the resort. Other than that I carry tickets in my pocket, a couple of bandaid, lip balm, small bottle of motrin and cash. Oh, and my camera which is very small. If not for the ponchos I could get it all in my pockets or the very very small camera bag.

I like to carry light too....but I do have young ones so my light still isn't very light....I try my best and whatever I might not have brought, you could always buy at the park!! ;)

I take a small canvas bag which holds camera, purse, small tube sunscreen, poncho, lip balm, autograph book. I do not take my mobile phone because I am on holiday and want a rest from the outside world. If we're splitting up, we just give a time where to meet. We also plan a place to meet if we get lost so it worls well.

Of course I don't have children yet so maybe that is why I don't lug a ton of stuff with me.

Generally, I carry two "things"... Very small holder for all "cards" plus $20 and lip balm... and those go in my pocket.

I will take my phone if we're in a large group... but it's more for phone tag than actual talking.

Of course DD is 18 now and we only carry the camera if we have something particular we want to take pictures of (like character Christmas trees at AK).

I am always reading about all the must-haves that so many of you take for your trips into the parks....hats, ponchos, bug spray, first aid kits, Crocs, special bags, fanny packs, spray bottle misters, snacks and drinks, and lots of other things I know I'm forgetting.

So my question is...Is anyone else like me, who takes only BARE necessities in with them? You guys have me feeling like I should be bringing in more stuff ;)

We wear simple flip flops with shorts, and I bring a tiny canvas bag that I leave with the stroller that contains sunscreen, dd's swimsuit, my camera and batteries. I carry our park passes and money in my pocket. And that's it for the whole day.
Now don't get me wrong...I definitely overpack for the trip in general. I bring WAY more clothes and shoes than we need and lots of toys to keep dd busy, when it comes to the parks, the less I have to deal with the better.

Anyone else?

US TOO!!!!

Oh my - the first I went to the parks with DD I felt like a pack mule. Our upcoming trip will be a very different story. I am not a fanny pack type so I will use a back pack but there will hardly be anything in it and I can always leave it with the stroller as there is nothing of great value in it. On my adult only trips I carry only what can fit in my pocket!

I too carry my cellphone and DD's cellphone. This way if me and DH split up from DD and friend we can contact each other. Plus both sets of parents are older so you never know when someone may need to get a hold of you. I think we only carry the bare nessecities in the backpack:

1. Tickets
2. Room Keys
3. Spending Cash
4. Visa
5. Tylenol & Advil
6. Sunscreen Stick
7. Camera
8. Cellphone

That is about it unless we are going to have lunch somewhere at a sit down restaurant and then I will take a brush, face powder, and lipstick.

OKAY - I WILL ADMIT IT......
I am a pack mule, always have been , always will be.
If you are riding down on the plane with us Sept 1st,
I will be wearing a bucket hat , my ugly but lovable crocs
and carrying a bag for the plane and one huge motherlode
of a suitcase will come off the luggage carosel just for me.. :goodvibes
( of course, inside the suitcase will be the fanny pack just for the parks.....) :rotfl:
