Am I the only one who hates Fireworks and has never seen Fantasmic?

Good morning everyone!

I see so many posts about how people just have to see the fireworks and Fantasmic. I've been to DLR a million times and only watch the fireworks when forced (ie, when I'm walking around and they're over my head or when I look out a window and happen to see them). I have never seen more than a minute of Fantasmic.

Am I weird?????? :bitelip: No, really?? :rotfl2:

I don't like the loudness of fireworks. I'm very sensitive to loud noises and fireworks are loud. Besides, I've seen them before. Brightly colored- lights in the sky. Woo hoo. And I really don't like the idea of having to camp out for hours just to get a seat to watch Fantasmic. By that time of the night, I'm usually exhausted and so are the kids and all we want to do is go home, not sit on the hard ground for hours...

Tell me what's so great about these!!! BTW, I love all the parades and all the other Disney magic! But I usually only have to wait about a half hour for a parade.

When I'm sitting in the hub watching the fireworks, I can't hear or dont notice the large "booms" that normally go with fireworks. On Saturday night I was on the train when there were going off. It was VERY loud back by Small world / toon town. When in the hub you just hear the music and some small noises.

What makes them more then bright lights in the sky? Tinkerbell. Lasers. Projected images on the castle. Music. Sound effects from various rides in the park. It really is more of a full show then simply being fireworks. They are well worth the 60-90 minutes we usually go to get a good spot.

We typically go to the 10:30 F!, so that we dont have to camp out for hours holding a spot.

By DH would have joined you prior to our visit last month. He would go out of his way to miss fireworks, but he will sometimes do what I ask. :)

We found our spot for the fireworks show about an hour early and "camped" out. Like hlbtimes2 stated, it more than a light show. It is everything that went along with it that makes it so wonderful, and even my DH was impressed and that was one of the best parts of the trip for him.

We wondered over to Fantasmic for the late show and found a spot right away. This was also enjoyable, but the fireworks show was definately better IMO.

I also did not notice the "booms" that often go with fireworks. I don't think you are alone in missing fireworks, but I hope you give it a chance. You might be surprised.

I can easily skip the parades, but love Fantasmic and the Fireworks! Its just all a matter of preference. The only time we catch the parades is if we happen to be wandering by, I woulfd never wait for it to start!

:wizard: I LOVE Fantasmic! It's MUCH more then just fireworks! It's a water show, with boats and characters - kind of like a parade. It's very exciting - it always puts a huge smile on my face.

I don't really care much about the fireworks, maybe on the 4th of July :)

Although we did get to see part of the fireworks @ WDW while riding Splash Mountain during an e-ticket night. That was fun.

I would like to see Fantasmic at some point, but probably not this trip.

YES!

Just kidding, but like others have said, if you don't see the show from a good spot in all it's glory, I think you are missing out! I cry every single time I see this show! I cry listening to the soundtrack from it in my car. To each his own, but it's a no miss for me! My 3 and 5 year olds can recite almost every line.

I love fireworks, and Disney's shows are the best in the world in my opinion.

Seen Fantasmic! over a 100 times easily and still absolutely love it. It's the best thing Disney (and everyone else for that matter) has ever done on a live stage... and the music, the show and the multimedia presentation still blows me away. 13 years later. :wizard:

...and really, over the years I have only waited longer than 15 or 20 mins for Fantasmic.. only a few times.

Go find good standing seats in front of the Haunted Mansion, but closer to the River and away from
The. Worst. Located. Smoking. Area. At. The. Whole. Resort.

Otherwise.. viewing in that area isn't the best.. but it is good and the waits for a good view there... are much less than center stage!

I can't find the right words to decsirbe the "remember" fireworks going on now at disneyland. It's just magical, from Tinkbell flying across the sky, to the castle changing colors, to the lights on the matterhorn. Although the fireworks are just "Brightly colored- lights in the sky" the sequencing and choreography of the them along with the audio soundtrack are unlike any fireworks show I've ever seen. We've done 2 trips since the 50th began and have seen the fireworks each night it was offered (3 X since it was only during weekends). We've got a 5 & 8 yo and they don't mind waiting to watch the fireworks. It gives us a time to wind down and talk about how our day was and what we want to do tomorrow. We do bring things for them to do while we wait.

We've seen fantasmic at least once each trip. We have waited up to 2 hours in the past to watch it, now we just sneak on in after the first show ends to watch the 2nd show. When the kids were younger, they were a bit frightened by it. Now they absolutely love it. Dh and I were intrigued by the water screens (1st and only time we had ever seen that) and we love sitting by the water's edge to feel the heat of the fire on rivers of america. The production is just simply amazing.

Disney does fireworks like nobody else. DL is the ONLY place I will wait to see fireworks (theirs are so much more than just fireworks). That being said, none of my family like being in a big crowd like that so we sometimes make it and sometimes don't (once per trip if I am lucky! ;) ).

We saw Fantasmic years ago and all thought it was terrific. The crowd thing has prevented us from seeing it again in DL. We did see it in WDW where we had an actual seat....we thought DL's show was better but having seating at WDW was very nice. Now we take advantage of the smaller ride lines when masses of other people are waiting for/watching Fantasmic! :wizard:

Your not the only one. I know a number of people who are noise sensitive who don't like them.

Haha that made me laugh! But I totally agree with you. It makes me mad about things like that campping out for hours. But my dad does it and I go on rides lol :rolleyes1 Well anyway just give it a try once and you might end up loving it. Also you might have the fireworksphobia.. I do not know what it is called off hand but but I know that people have it like my aunt but that is another story lol. Hope that you find time to watch maybe once. Well talk to you later

Jules :wizard:

I can take or leave Fantasmic, and in fact don't see it at WDW because i don't care for their version, and don't see it at DL because we tour at low season.

I LOVE fireworks! At WDW I try and see Illuminations at least twice a trip, and at MK we watch from Fantasyland because you feel the "booms" so much better :) At DL We always see the Fireworks as many times as it shows during our trip (we just don't watch from Main st)

I am pretty much (pretty much) like you. I went with Girlfriend and my daughter when she was 5. We did not camp out for Fantasmic....but stopped and then tried to see it.....I put daughter on my shoulders and I could not see a thing!
I hated !! standing there, getting tired and not seeing a darn thing (had to backspace and watch my language! :goodvibes ).....Fireworks. Well, I don't dislike them....but if I am in a position to stop and see the works....I will.
but I dont think I will purposely stop, camp out and stand my ground for 1/2 hour to see them. Disneyland is too valuable to me to stop for as little as half an hour to NOT be in line! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

When DH and DS and I were at WDW in 2004, we were heading out to leave the park during the fireworks and I would stop to catch a glimpse, and that was about it.

I will be returning to DL (I am what I consider myself as a seasoned visitor)
in Aug. with DS and we will not camp out to see Fantasmic.....and if we are in a position to stop and view the fireworks we will, otherwise we may be on a ride !!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....................

If you think they are just a bunch of brightly colored lights in the sky you are not really watching....all of Disney's fireworks shows tell a story, and wonderful ones at that.

If you don't do more than "look" at them (or not look at them....) you are sooo missing out.

I don't think this thread is meant to be debated..........I think JulieMNN just wanted to know if she was alone or if there were others that agreed (with her). That's all. I don't think a debate is required to discuss the issues if fireworks are really great or not.

Then why not relax & wait for great views once... of the best things Disneyland has to offer... and those definitely include Fantasmic! & Remember...
If the lines are short... it's because the majority of the park is being blown away by two world class shows... that no other park on earth has yet to match. :wizard:

As I kid, I hated fireworks. I hated the loud bangs (I equated them with gunfire). Now, I love them. I also love Fantasmic. Luckily I have a group of friends who love it just as much and we do camp out for it, for many hours when we do see it. We also invite perfect strangers to sit with us (but you have to have the right attitude). I also have no problems waiting for a couple of hours for the perfect fireworks spot. I'll wait for quite a while for my other two fave shows--Alladin (yep, want the perfect seat there too, first row of rear orchestra) and Billy Hill & the Hillbillies (that front row center table is mine). Maybe it's because I actually like the shows as much if not more than the rides (that's very true for the Billys). Disneyland is about so much more than the rides.
