A lighter topic for today. Our PTA is planning a spaghetti dinner - I'm basically in charge. When laying out the plans at our board meeting I suggested choices of milk, juice, water, and maybe tea for drinks. People were horrified that I didn't include sodapop. I always think of pop as something you drink with burgers or pizza but don't consider it a choice for regular family dinners. Evidently I was alone in this opinion in my meeting. The majority consensus was to have soda, juice, and bottled water. Don't people give their kids milk anymore?

So, I want to know ... do you and/or your kids regularly drink pop at dinner?

yes we allways drink pop, you are very strange, If I am having milk there better be an oreo infront of me

Water for me and DD's at meals. Pop for DH. I don't know how he has managed to get away with that all these years. I guess that bringing in tthe paycheck has its privileges. The kids get pop for meals as a "treat." But they do not drink much milk, I am sorry to say. They have to get their calcium in other ways...

Unless we are eating out, or take out, my kids drink milk with meals. I do sometimes.

My kids and my SO almost always drink coke or sprite with their meals at home. I drink water with all my meals at home. Especially spaghetti.:) When we go out to eat, I have tea or coffee with my meal. My ds sometimes will drink OJ or milk with his meals though.

I drink Diet Pepsi from the time I get up till the time I go to bed...all meals included. My husband has his morning coffee, soda for lunch (I think, since I don't see him at lunchtime), then iced tea from dinner till bedtime. My kids drink a variety of things...but usually my daughter (21) will drink water with dinner and my son (19) drinks soda or Kool Aid.

youre not weird we have milk or water with meals. occasionally a pop for me or dh but not very often.

Cam is 7 and I think hes probably had 5 cans of pop in his entire life lol. Im a MEAN mommy!! ;)

No, you're not alone at all.

I drink one Diet Pepsi a day with lunch and my daughter (9) doesn't like soda at ALL! I'm glad for that; she drinks juice, water or milk with meals. Much healthier.

My DH and I drink water with meals.

We have milk with every meal.

Only exception is takeout pizza/pop.

We go thru 3-4gallons a week when kids are home.

Herc.

DD usually has milk with her meals, sometimes she has juice or water. DH and I usually have either iced tea or water. I was making lemonade quite a bit this summer and we had that often over the summer. No soda though unless we have ordered pizza. My daughter views pop as a treat and she gets root beer or Sprite when she has it.

When I was growing up we always had milk, water or ice tea with our meals. Soda was only given to us with our meal if we were having pizza. Now that i'm married and have a family of my own things are different. I can't remember the last glass of milk my DD has had. She does not like milk. She has juice with breakfast and lunch. She usually has soda when she gets home from school. At dinner she sometimes has soda, but usually she drinks juice. DH drinks water or tea. I drink water or soda. I really like my PEPSI.

We only drink pop at restaurants and maybe on the weekend. The rest of the time we drink milk, juice and water.

Tea more than coke around here

The only beverage choice for our PTA spagetti dinner is McDonald's Hi C Orange (because it is donated). And they usually make it way to strong for my liking.

I grew up drinking water with meals than switched to koolaid then pop, now I am trying to drink milk..with out the oreos jason.;)

If we are eating at home it is juice, milk or water. When we eat out it is usually soda and ice tea for mom and dad. My parents dont let us drink soda so much at our house.

It depends. For me it could be milk, Koolaid, pop or juice (or juice mixed with pop :teeth: ). Lately my beverage of choice has been Orange Koolaid.

I certainly wouldn't be horrified if you didn't have pop ;), especially if you have a selection, and since it's a fundraiser you'll have to look at the costs and see what's in the budget.

My son does not drink soda with dinner on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, he doesn't drink that much soda. The rule in our house is that you have to have your three glasses of milk a day before you can have any soda or juice (with the exception of orange juice). I personally am not a big soda drinker, I really only like rootbeer and grape soda and usually only drink it socially, but that isn't too often. My son (who is 6) didn't start drinking soda until a couple of months ago when we moved to Italy because he doesn't like the taste of Italian milk so when he goes out he ends up with soda instead. Now DH on the other hand is a coke man and usually has it with his dinner. Also if he isn't drinking expresso during the day than he drinks coke then too.
