Am I the only one underwhelmed by the Mine Train?

To read about it on here and the way FP+ go, I'd think it was the second coming.

Well, I had a FP+ for this past Friday and rode it. It was cute, don't get me wrong, but I don't get all the hype about it. I'd do it again with a FP+ (wouldn't kill myself to get it though) or if the wait was maybe 20 minutes, but definitely not the 70 minutes we saw and definitely not setting an alarm clock to get up at midnight to book one again IMHO (I happened to randomly wake up the day my window opened so I booked it with all these second coming sunbeams streaming from it).

So am I the only one who rode it and basically thought "Meh"?

Many people find the ride lacking. The main reason it is currently so popular is that it is new. New things always create high demand. Additionally, it is family-friendly, meaning it can be ridden by a lot of people who can't or won't ride Space Mountain, Rock N Roller Coaster, etc.

I thought it was a cute ride. We enjoyed it. But I went in expecting a fun little family coaster, not the greatest ride of all time.

I thought it was fairly lame the first time we rode it , but liked it more the second and third time I rode it. Sit in the back for a better ride. We had FP+ for it twice and waited in line at midnight when the park was open until 1:00 am. I liked the queue so I'm glad we waited in line. It was listed as 65 minutes and was not even 25 minutes long.

Nope, you are not alone...I agree...it would be a lot better with just one more lift hill and section...it is too short.

Yes the animatronics are cools and pretty amazing...but if the point was for that, why not just redo Snow White's Scary Adventure with new animatronics?

I will say though it is in the perfect location, right near the other ride in the MK that ends before it should, Little Mermaid...did they not plot out the ride ahead of time? to jump to the end skipping the Climax of the story was lazy...plus image the effects they could have done with the whirlpool (having the ride cars circle the edge!)

You aren't the only one.

Lots of people have posted their displeasure with the ride. They are mostly told their expectations were not in line with what the ride is intended to be, and for some that is a fair criticism. It was not intended to be a big thrill ride, though the ride was and is hyped quite a bit and its never really mentioned that it is a kiddie ride.

But, it's just a kiddie coaster, it's 50 seconds of moderate motion and 1 min 40seconds of going slow and enjoying the view.

I feel the same way you do, as I said, lots of people do.

Nope, certainly not the only one. I don't agree with the sentiment but there are people who think that about every ride.

First time I got done with Soarin I thought that was the end of the introduction, not the ride.

It is SO VERY SHORT of a ride that we won't do it without a fastpass. To us it's not even worth a 20 minute wait in line.

It is cute, but it's not very exciting. It's a good first roller coaster for kids though.

I think it is very well themed; however, I would be ticked off to wait two hours for that ride!

I don't understand it's purpose either. Why get rid of the old Snow White ride for a new kid friendly version? It made absolutely no sense to me.

I also was underwhelmed with the Little Mermaid ride, but that's for another thread....

Best part of the Fantasyland expansion is Be our Guest Restaurant in my opinion.

I've read opinions ranging from "Absolutely marvelous! It's already a classic!" to "It sucked, that's 2 minutes of my life I want back."

Personally, I can say it's the only ride in all of the MK that we've only ridden once in 40+ years. And that's not because we couldn't get FP's for it.

I think they could have done much better.

Isn't that the case with the majority of WDW rides? It is more about the theming and visuals, and less about the thrills. I rode EE the year it opened, and had to ride it single rider as it was so busy. I loved the details of the ride, but it wasn't crazy over the top thrills. A few years back I rode Kraken at Seaworld when we went offsite for a day. I still get PTSD from that ride. That is my idea of a thrill ride.

I think the lack of a third lift hill/show scene is so obvious that it ruins it.

If I could ride it at least 3x in a row, it would fun.

Big Thunder Mountain is way better.

Probably by me. ;)

Designed as a kiddie coaster, built as a kiddie coaster, feels like a kiddie coaster. Somewhere during the 3-5 year wait or whatever it was, I think expectations got higher because it was taking so long.

I myself do not see any hype coming from Disney that claims it is more thrilling than it actually is--that in my opinion always came from the impatient fan community. The only thing I see Disney hyping is a new ride, not a new thrilling ride.

My understanding is that the ride was not in the original plans for NFL. The original plan was too princess centric so they went back to the drawing board. The original Snow White was already on the chopping block so they refashioned the area into a "new and improved" version. I believe because it was developed after the fact they were somewhat limited by space.

::yes:: This is my understanding as well. It's a very cute ride that I'll do as often as I can whenever I'm there.

My issue isn't that it isn't "thrilling" enough...just that it is too short...It doesn't need any more "thrills" just more track.

I'm amazed that people will stand for hours to go on this, i can maybe understand if it was Forbidden Journey or Gringotts.

We rode this at Disneyland and we were pretty disappointed as well.

As far as 7DMT, our expectations are in check. From all the descriptions it seems to have taken it's cues from Radiator Springs Racers in that the look/theme/tech was more important than the actual ride portion (which is a tamer version of test track).

As much as I hate to say it, Universal is handily beating Disney when it comes to combining high tech and a fulfilling ride experience.

For me the disappointment was more in terms of how much was spent and how long it took in comparison with the end result, as well as any indication it might provide about future direction and what we can expect.

I mean, I've seen other parks spend less and build quicker and the results were (subjectively, of course) more impressive.

Hopefully the Avatar and Star Wars projects turn out much different.
