Am I the only one too scared for Grizzly River?

Just stay at the grand, and ride it at night. We'll do it 8 times in a row (sometimes we don't even have to leave the raft), and then squish squish back to the room. Even with Ponchos you'll get wet, and the water squirting up at high pressure through the floor drains is often times worse than the water coming over the side.

I love this ride! We are the crazy Canadian family (Grandma included) that ride it in January and laugh like loons when we get soaked! Wear quick drying clothes and have the attitude of your dryable and have fun!

Have a Magical Time!

You don't really need to stay at the Grand with this plan, any walking distance hotel would work at the end of the night. Now a midday ride where you get a little too wet, then the Grand would be super convenient to hop back to the room and change really quickly.

We did this and we stay on Harbor, usually Candy Cane Inn. We plan what day we are riding Grizzly, throw flip flops in the backpack, put the flip flops on when its time to ride and then we ride a few times. Once we are good and wet and dome riding we head back to the hotel and change. Because this takes some time and planning we don't usually ride it when we are visiting for one day. We save it for a multi day visit.

I hope to do this the next time I go regardless of which hotel/motel we stay. The first time I read whoever's story/tradition, I thought it was brilliant and know my kids will be up for it.

We all love it! My boys are disappointed if they DON'T get wet. We found that the people closest to the openings of the raft get wettest. Keep your feet off the ground. We don't do ponchos (ever) and we laugh so much we're in tears. It is the best ride ever.

Not true! Lol I purposely picked the inside middle and got soaked!! My dh by the opening did not. I think it's more about where you are when you go down the drops.

Yeah, but its really nice to be getting off the ride, and in your room within 3 minutes. The DL ponchos are also worth buying. They hold up darn well vs the ones you'll find at walmart or the dollar store. We've got some we take with us when camping which are even heavier, but we'd look kind of weird standing in line in realtree camo.

I think it's time you faced your fear! LOL I find the ride to be like soaking roulette. Usually two people get wet and one gets soaked. I won't go when it's cold but essential during summer visits. Honestly if you are an adult, medically healthy, and meet the ride requirment *drum roll* TRY IT! You can always bring a change of clothes and you can cross that off our list.

I won't ride it if I have on jeans and sneakers. Mostly I just worry about how I will feel walking around the park in my soaking wet clothes after the ride. Jeans take hours and hours to dry. Same for sneakers.

I did it on my first trip and barely got wet. I think my luck ran out because every time since then I've gotten soaked. I think it's all in the seating and the weight distribution.
