Am I the only one that keeps switching resort reservations?!?!

You don't know how good this thread is making me feel right now! We are DVC members and have always stayed at Old Key West, sometimes adding a night to the beginning or end of our trip at a Value or Moderate. This year we decided to try something different and booked at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We were all satisfied, my boys had to be convinced - that surprised me I thought they would like that resort. So for 4 months we were content, and now with 3 months to go nobody wants to stay there - it's too far from everything, there are no sports (bball, tennis courts), there is no big walk in shower (hubby's complaint - OKW spoils him!) So now we are looking at the other DVC resorts. We looked at Beach club and it sounds really nice except there is no bus to Epcot or MGM.....Hollywood Studios and I have trouble walking long distances and don't want to waste my available walking time getting to the parks. Ditto with Boardwalk. Wilderness Lodge - again no sports stuff. So now we are looking at going back to our beloved and familiar Old Key West, or possibly Saratoga Springs. Unfortunatley, althought we have changed our minds a thousand times I haven't gotten anyone to settle in on one idea long enough to actually change our ressie. You don't know how nervous I am that if I cancel our AKL rooms that somewhere between cancelling it and booking the new rooms that they will all fill up and we'll be screwed!!

LOL Sounds just like me!!!!! OK, I haven't actually called to make the switch to Poly...but I keep toying w/ it. We are booked for 8N at POFQ. I've always wanted to stay at a monorail hotel. We're traveling 11/28-12/6 so I can't START my vaca'n there as it will be even BIGGER bucks over Thanksgiving...but the rest of my stay goes into Value season so maybe then???? But then I think we'll be doing MK toward the early part of the week and that's when I'd want to be at a monrail hotel. ..but to change rooms 3 times for 8nights is a bit much! Then I think, ok, how about 5N at the Poly and only 3 at POFQ to start our trip. But MAN...the cost of the Poly keeps coming back to haunt me. Will it be worth it? Or worse, will we love it so much I won't want to go back to a moderate??? Our children will be 6 and 9. This would be a great time to splurge on the Poly...or the Contemporary. I've always wanted to do that too. But thinking of the increased cost and what it could buy in terms of food, or trader pins, or souvies....I just stick w/ POFQ. Darn this is tough!!!!

Boy, you ARE like me! Would you like to borrow my spreadsheets? Or maybe my Word tables or one of my graphs.... The sad part is that I am NOT kidding! I really really really want to go to the Poly, but the extra cost is killing me.

However I think I have finally hit upon a solution that will have me staying put for a while and that's if (1) I can get the money together up front before calling to change to Poly again, (2) IF I can get together another $500.00 for spending money - then I can change it to Poly. Again. For the fourth time.

Do you think that will work?

You and I could be twins I have changed from WL to POFQ to AKL to Poly (Lord willing STAYING there )....we're staying for 9 days and it's quite $$ however, my boys will be 4 and 6 and I know it's the PERFECT time for them to stay at Poly. I just a still a bit in awe of the cost!!!! We're getting FD so that helps ease the sting of it some. I'm just going to not spend so much on souvenirs b/c really, my kids have more stuff than they know what to do with. I'm sure we'll buy some stuff, but I'm scaling that WAY back this trip due to our resort choice. Good luck in your decision!

I promised dh this would be a cheap trip for dd#1's b-day / free dining.

Started with ASMusic preferred for 5 nights.

Got the free dining and added a night at the beginning and 4 at the end (total of 10 nights).

Upgraded to POFQ

Changed to CSR

Realized I could pay for BBB and MNSSHP if we went back to ASMusic

Decided I would prefer POP b/c we actually "checked it out" on our last trip - got preferred

Switched to POP standard

Dropped down to 7 nights

Added another night to the end

So.....as of now......POP standard for 8 nights w/ free dining.

Clear as mud, right?!?!?!

Well lets see it went something like this. March booked 10 night stay at Poly Club Level. Then decided what the heck lets get annual passes and go a second time since we are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in December. So called AAA and booked the Poly Club level for 12 nights. Next along comes sister in law and niece in Fl who we haven't seen in years and I decide to be nice and invite them to join us in May for a long weekend our treat. So booked CL Poly for them. Then got cold feet about the Poly having never stayed there and swithched sister in laws and ours to GF with MK view. Then along came some nice folks who reassured me that the Poly would be great and we really like CL and GF had none avaliable so back to the Poly we go. Now mind you I am not moving just one group of people I am moving two. Then I think well in December it would be really nice to be in the GF Cl so a room opens up and yep you guessed it over to the GF we go for CL. Well over the last two weeks the cost of staying at the GF club level has been eating at me and I just don't think I can justify this amount of money so back to the Poly Club level we go with out December reservations.
Now we leave tomorrow for Poly Club level but in the back of my mind is well if we get there and are disappointed I better take AAA's number with me so I can call and move my December reservations to who knows where so now the wait begins and I know my agent at AAA would shutter if she knew I was even contemplating moving again

I have switched back and forth a few times...beleive me, you are not by far the only one!!! It actually drives me nuts at times, because I think I am all set, and then something happens. One thing is that I usually try a different resort that I would seem interested in.

I am still going crazy with my present dilema. We are going in Jan 2009 and I originally wanted to stay at AKL. Well, my DH then told me that if we stay at a mod, we could stay longer. So, instead of staying 7 nights at AKL, we are going to stay 10 nights at POFQ. But, the clincher is that right not I am holding a room only at FQ, but when the 2009 package rates come out, I just may be able to get a good rate from AAA, so you never know.....AKL just might not be out of the picture yet.

It is just a hassel having to make all of these resort decisions!!!

Sounds good to me! I spent an hour in the waiting area while my dd did gymnastics pounding out #s. (and thinking about how i'll create a spreadsheet to make it easier when I get home) LOL Do you have something that will save me the trouble that you'd care to PM me???? This is too funny. I'm actually really toying now w/ staying CR MK view for 2 nights of our stay and 6N at POFQ. I just can't justify a whole trip at either CR or Poly...but 2 or 3 nights...maaaaybe. This is driving me nuts. And I keep thinking of the check the gov't will be sending soon and saying, hmmmmmm w/ it...I could do MORE nights at either hotel.......

Hello fellow switchers!

Guess what I did today? You got it - I switched again. I was staying at POFQ for 9 nights and paid off the trip in full this morning! And then it happened.... I was just looking on the Disney website at "possible" deals about an hour ago, trolling for a room at WL for my dates (I can only afford a Standard at WL which was part of the problem) when it happened....

WL popped up, Standard view but who cares? For, get this.... $516.00 more than what I had just finished paying at POFQ. Two days less for the trip, but that boat to the MK is a huge thing for me. So I booked it. Of course. But then the two "missing" days were bugging me so I added an EXTRA day onto the WL ressie and then booked a separate "room only" for the FW campground for two nights! So now I'm going to take one day off WL (I think) to make up the cost of the campground.

I really need to be committed to an institution for this. I will NEVER try to book a trip for FD ever again!

And as an aside..................................

I have tables, a chart, and a few spread sheets. I've been trying to compile them into one excel spread sheet complete with embedded $$ cells for ease of use, but I'm not quite done yet... wonder why?!?!?!

I feel so much better, thanks for all your stories My DH has had it with my switching and only wants to know when I pick the final two resorts we will be staying at, till then he doesn't want to hear a thing about my switching. I currently have Pop for seven nights and Poly for seven nights but am still debating on switching the seven nights at Poly (really don't want to change) for WL or AKL or even Contemporary (which has only club level rooms = too much for our budget)to save a few $$$, unless some AP rates for July come out.......here we go again

My switching days for this trip are done!!
Today I was able to score 2N at CR - Tower - Theme Park view!!!!!!! Rest of the trip is POFQ. I am soooooo excited.

But just wait...next trip I'll be changing ressies all over again. Of course if I fall inl ove w/ CR, it may be awhile til my next trip so I can save $$$$$ to stay there again....for longer......

Now after one full day of being booked in a tent and at the WL I want to switch BACK to POFQ. For the sixth time. It's the $$$$ thing that gets me. That 516.00 +the 100 for the tent (!!!) means no MNSSHP, no AP, and no cute t-shirt with Tinkerbell on it. Would you switch if you were me? The fact that I keep coming back to POFQ must mean something, right????

I am here now....spending first night - typing to you all and trying to decide if I am going to go to cm in the morning and ask for a switch...

don't get me wrong... it is not a bad thing...
I got this room at *** on spring discount and could not resist a quick trip....
usually I stay at Port Orleans....have stayed at GF before.... and offsite...
I think this resort is very kid friendly and good use of space...
but I always think I want to be closer to something I am not....even at GF I said if I wanted an "epcot" trip I would not stay at GF

Anyway...I'll think about it in my sleep...

My son is 12, we have been going to Disneyworld once every year since he was 6 years old. I tend to believe, after reading these boards & all other Disney sites, the more you make changes to your reservations, the greater the risk that there will be a mistake when you arrive.

So, in that being said, I never make changes after I make my reservation. I make sure when I get ready to make that reservation online thru Disney (I have always done mine every year thru disneyworld.com) that I am committed to those days. We go either the 1st or 2nd week in December every year, so as long as I don't go the week Pop Warner is there, I am good.
