Am I the only one that is unimpressed with SWGE - where is the juice?

No they just don't want to pay George Lucas anything. They are intentionally smothering the OT and the PT to try to cram in the ST with memorable characters like Chrome Stormtrooper lady who dies and Purple haired Laura Dern.

It's not working based on toy sales etc.

Disney already paid George Lucas $4 billion to buy Lucasfilm. They own it. Completely.

I dunno. I just found the whole thing underwhelming. And this is coming from someone who has seen every second of everything Star Wars and can quote the movies, from OT to prequel to the new ones. I liked Hondo in Clone Wars and Rebels. It's fine that he's involved in Smuggler's Run, but to not really involve the other major characters seems like a big miss to me. Maybe they'll be in Rise of the Resistance -- I hope so. I get what they were going with for the land itself and not tying it to one thing in particular, but that didn't really resonate with me. It felt kinda . . . sterile. I like that there are characters running around and interacting with guests -- that was super cool. But the rest of it didn't really pull me in. Maybe I'll feel differently when I go back. The food was disappointing. Ronto Wrap was fine, and definitely the best food item I had, but the rest at the docking bay was less than impressive. The drinks we had were also majorly disappointing. $15 for a pre-mixed drink that comes out of a giant container not only doesn't taste good, it is a huge ripoff (especially when you get much better drinks at literally any other bar in the park that are mixed by hand and don't cost quite as much). I hope when we get to Oga's my mind will be changed. I really, really want to love this. I was so excited. I hope my second experience is better and more fulfilling.

It's PRETEND. When I ride Peter Pan and they sprinkle pixie dust on me, I don't actually fly. It's make believe. You can make believe that Han is letting you fly his ship. Geez.

Yes it IS pretend. And when I go to Disney World I expect the CHARACTERS will match to how they are portrayed in the movies. Character integrity is important. And Galaxy's Edge is no different

Diagon Alley is an almost exact replica of what appeared in the movies. It is extremely immersive and it is really cool to explore all the shops and the pub, and restaurants. The ride queue is the Gringott's bank and it's amazingly themed. Looks just like in the movie. I think those movies did a great job of bringing those places to life. They were very much the way I pictured them in my head when reading the books.

Similarly, Carsland at DCA is a spectacular example of a land that looks exactly (I mean exactly) like Radiator Springs in the movie. That land is so good and it is a lot of fun to spend time in.

SWGE suffers from being an unrecognizable place that no one has an emotional connection to. Plus, it doesn't have enough to do with only one ride and numerous upcharge experiences.

In Carsland, for example, there are 3 rides, 8 places to get unique foods/snacks, several character meet and greets (Lightning, Mater, Cruz Ramirez, Red). There used to be the DJ dance party in the streets, but in general, the cars actually drive around and talk/interact with guests. There is a nightly neon lighting ceremony. There are several unique themed shops selling nice merchandise. Flo's V8 serves great food and plays awesome music and is a nice place to hang out. There are SO many cool details and little fun things to find. It really does feel like a little town.

By contrast, SWGE feels dead and soulless. The lack of music and moving elements really creates quite a void. As a "themed place" the imagineering work is spectacular. It is very highly detailed and rich with backstory. It's just not a place anyone cares about.

For me, just seeing the Millenium Falcon and wandering Stormtroopers, hearing ships "fly" over in a Tatooine-like setting was enough of an emotional connection. I also have been introduced Black Spire Outpost via many of the current Star Wars books and comic books. For my son and I, going into Dok Ondar's shop (and SEEING him) was awesome because of the comic book series we read where he is featured.

There's not a dedicated area for meet and greet because the "land" is set organically. Like an every day settlement. In your town/city is there a dedicated meet and greet area with important people in your town?
March of the First Order would fit perfectly in the land though
The area around the Tie Echelon is a stage of sorts, a First Order commander comes out and starts talking to the citizens that they are there to look for rebels, Kylo then comes out of the ship and they begin their patrol.This hasn't happened here yet but it happens every day at DL. I'm assuming we will get it here come opening day

They didn't open Disneyland version that early. It had been projected for around mid June for quite a long time. The issues with the second ride were totally preventable if they had spent the money where it mattered in the ride tech rather than outsourcing it to save some $$$.

I feel like the sound effects of ships landing and droids making noises without the accompanying visuals is jarring. This is a big problem inside Docking Bay 7. It is loud and uncomfortably so in there, with the sound of ships taking off constantly. It's not a nice place to eat. It sounds like a hangar at LAX. I get that is the theme, but it's not executed well. My son has to wear his noise reducing headphones in there. That's ridiculous.

I'm glad that you have some familiarity with the land, but the books and comics have a VERY niche audience and it seems odd to create a land based on a place that so few people have ever heard of. My husband reads some of the comics, mostly the Darth Vader series, but he has the Star Wars ones as well. He hasn't read any of the books, ever. Not his thing. He watched Clone Wars and Rebels and really liked them, but says it was weird to use Hondo in the MF attraction since "most people won't know who he is even though I think he is a cool character."

I just love the assumptions here as from what I have read that ride was not ready for the rest of the land so sure a company is NOT going to hold off opening the entire hotel when a floor was not ready, does make financial sense, at over $1 billion spent in DL alone it was never going to be held back no matter the Assumptions... NOBODY knows what the deal was but that ride "is being billed as the most ambitious, most epic attraction ever to come to a theme park. This amazing ride including: ride vehicle, a walk-through of the attraction, capacity, and length ( 20+mins). Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is on a scale like nothing else you’ve ever seen in a theme park attraction. It’s rumored to have 18 show areas and 5 ride system types in all bringing guests through the biggest attraction show building they’ve ever created. To give you an idea though about how detailed this interior is going to be, reportedly there will be 305 state-of-the-art animatronic figures, including the aforementioned Droids, with 100 of the figures being Stormtroopers. That would put it on par with “It’s a Small World” for one of the attractions with the most amount of animatronics ever. ................

A delay in its official opening can be due to plenty of things, something this technologically built is going to have issues and trust me here they have put PLENTY Of $$$ where it mattered....

Most Disney restaurants are too loud for my likes but I know this going in and as far as DB7 it is part of the immersiveness and detailing everyone is talking about, again this is known going in.......Not sure what some wanted here but wow a few in here keep dissing the place and its good to know it is not all peaches and cream in there but come on. Those nay sayers would NEVER be happy with anything anybody would have done, so its time to sit back and relax and ENJOY it for what it is, a awesome themed entertainment park and go on.......

True . .it doesn't fit "organically" ... but it is something the fans probably would like. You could make it fit .. it's sci-fi .. Maybe you are visiting a holo museum with legends of the past? Maybe Chewbacca is in the resistance base recruiting help? Maybe Kylo Ren is in his base interrogating "spies (guests)" who are brought before him?

I was totally shocked when the March of the First Order just disappeared. I had thought (since it really didn't fit .. marching down Hollywood boulevard) that it was just a test/training for SWGE .. where it would fit organically. Maybe they will bring it back after the crowds die down? But they are probably afraid it will cause too much of a crowd or congestion.

There is plenty of Star Wars to "do" in Hollywood Studios .. it is just so spread out right now, so thus the land feels "empty".

I really really really wished they would have been able to incorporate Star Tours into SWGE. With modifications to the pilot and the stories, it would be a great fit into the land as something else to do. . What else would a bunch of tourists be doing? Touring the Stars.

Wizarding World isn't Galaxy's Edge. While WW has an immersive element, I don't feel like I'm telling a story but watching one. And as I mentioned there are pretty blatant continuity issues for anyone who has even simply seen the movies (like myself). GE is meant to feel like you're contributing to a story.

I do have an interest in doing those things, but $200 is too much. The droid is cool but also too expensive for what it is to me. Your mileage may vary!

IMO, WWoHP is much more immersive. You really feel like you’re in a familiar place, with almost everything being recognizable. SWGE feels like you’re vaguely in a recognizable place, with a few things you recognize, but is a little lifeless. There’s not a lot of kinetic motion on the outside - it’s all hidden. Maybe that will change.

The problems with the RotR ride are due to the trackless vehicles and various sensor malfunctions. Plenty of people know what is going on and it's not some huge secret. People talk. The trackless tech for THIS ride was not developed in house by WDI. It was outsourced to the lowest bidder. That company wasn't ready to make a system of this magnitude. Both rides were SUPPOSED to open at the same time in Disneyland, in mid June of this year. They went ahead with the opening after realizing they had serious problems with the other ride. It was not an expected situation.

As to the rest of your post, did you not see the title of this thread? It is a thread for people to discuss being UNIMPRESSED by SWGE. Are you here to just rip on that opinion? There are other threads talking about how awesome some people think SWGE is if that is more your speed. Plenty of people are, justifiably, unimpressed with SWGE.

I don't know if that's true... Satu'li Canteen is everything DB7 should be. There's no reason they can't bring DB7 up to that level, and I suspect they will.

I'm impressed with the SWGE. Details. Immersion. Queuing at MF might even be better then the actual attraction.

I'm not sure about the repeat factor. How many guests need a second saber? A second droid? Olga's is fun. Not sure how many trips I'm willing to pay $$$ for premixed sugary drinks. How many $$$ souvenir mugs do I want to own?
Shops are filled with $ collectibles and display items. After first, maybe second trip, I'll be finished buying.

As long as Disney can fill SWGE with first time visitors it should do great. Otherwise Savis may wind up being an easy experience to book same day.
