How can a person walk so much and still gain weight? yes - I eat - but c'mon. I don't get it. Hoping this time I'll walk off some weight instead of packing it on.

I'm with you, I don't see how you can gain weight walking as much as we do, but we always seem to.

I think the walking helps me burn off my burgers, pizza, and filet mignon's (thank you dining plan), but it doesn't help my snack credits:

dole whips
school bread
a block of fudge from the confectionary
main street bakery ice cream sandwiches
do you see a trend here?.......

do you walk alot at home? if so your body maybe used to the walking? i do walk some but at disney i always can eat whatever i want and still lose a few because of all the walking, but at the last 2 trips we stayed at the epcot resorts so we walked to epcot and dhs most of the time instead of taking the boat. interesting enough last trip i timed the walk from the dolphin to soarn in epcot and it was 1/2 hour. that was at like 4:00 after we had been doing the mk most of the day! so we do ALOT of walking at disney.

NO,.....very sedentary here!! ;) So I should burn some calories but never seem to. I don't eat MORE than I do at home...just don't get it. Will try to drink lots of water and we have a 10-day pass plus water parks so I hope to be tan and THIN when I get home. That's one of my WISHES.:wizard:

I don't gain on vacation, but I go mid summer, so I think the profuse sweating has something to do with it.

You really don't burn much calories by just walking around disney. It' all about elevating your heart rate. So I guess we think we are exercising and we can then eat whatever we want but really we are not burning nearly enough calories by walking to justify all the extra calories. Who cares really though, vacation eating is so much fun:cool1:

If you walk, on avearge, 10 miles a day at WDW, a 160 pound individual will burn roughly 850 calories (walking at a 3 MPH pace). Eat 1 extra box of popcorn, a few beers or 1 extra dessert and there go your 850 calories burned. I think many people would be shocked at how many calories some of the stuff at Disney World (and the rest of the world) actually contain.

Now listen here...I have lost just enough weight for my shorts to fit me comfortably in a few weeks. I absolutely cannot gain more weight while at WDW! ;)

Well, what do you drink while you're there? That might be the difference. Do you drink ample water? Or are you a soda drinker? If you're downing sugared sodas, you're adding in far more calories than you realize, not to mention the sodium and caffine to help out with water retention. Even the diet sodas have the sodium and caffine, even if you don't have the calories. Push push push the water all day, every day, you're there and see if that makes a difference.

I lost 3 pounds from our last trip.

Nope, haven't gained weight at WDW yet. BUt, while cruising I gained a bunch of tonage. Good thing I brought a size larger capris by mistake. But, when I cruise this Dec, I'll be heading to WDW for 6 days...that should take care of any excess tonage!!

I tend to gain a couple of pounds while at WDW also. It must be all the chicken fingers, french fries, ice cream, and cookies. Now I am hungry.

My husband and I always gain about 7 pounds while at WDW. We don't fret too much about it because we really enjoy the DDP and don't go very often!

I lose weight at disney but i walk 12-15 miles per day and usually share my snacks with wife and/or kids.

Also keep in mind that pedometers can give false (high) readings, for example if you are shuffling along in a line, where each stride might be 6 inches instead of 3 feet.

at least I know I'm not the only one. I'll let y'all now how it turns out. wish me luck!!:cheer2:
