Am I The Only One Fed Up With These Contests...?

Am I the only one who HATES this?

I have so many friends with the "cutest" or "most talented" babies. So many, in fact, that I CONSTANTLY find my email inbox or Facebook page FULL of requests that I put in a vote for the little guy or gal. Fine. That's fine. I never mind voting for them.

But WHY do they always have to add, "You can vote DAILY, so please do!" Like all I have to do is remember to vote for your kid DAILY for a MONTH.

What's WORSE is that they CHECK UP! I get, "Did you remember to vote for baby today?" emails or posts every other day.

Why can't grandma and grandpa and aunt and best friend vote ONCE, and then let the contest run its course?

I never get stuff like that from actual friends, but I do have a Frontierville "neighbor" who asked everyone to vote daily for her grandchild in some baby contest. I just ignored the requests. Once is fine, but daily is a bit much for someone you don't even really know.

That ranks up there with friends that forward every silly joke/pic/quote/video of the day. Had one friend that I finally had to tell to knock it off. Funny, haven't heard much from them since.

Why let this bother you? If I get around to voting I do. I never do anything everyday for 30 days.

It seems like everyone I know with young children on facebook is trying to get their baby to be the next face of the Gerber Generation. I don't vote for anyone's kid and I don't put DD11 months in that type of stuff either. Freaks me out.

When those posts were allowed here, I would vote when people requested it - but I can't recall anyone asking to do it daily.. I think that would be a bit much.. And doesn't that also skew the tally for who wins? I think one vote per person would be more in line with finding an accurate winner..

I think cute baby contests are tacky... not any better than 5 year old beauty pageants.
