Am I the only one devastated by the Country Bear Jamboree Updates just released?

Oooh...Help me Dr. Zaius!
Dr. Zaius-Dr. Zaius!
Dr. Zaius-Dr. Zaius!
Dr. Zaius-Dr. Zaius!
Oh-oh Dr. Zaius!

This play has everything!

Actually, seriously, I would love to see this Live at the Hyperion at DCA! Man, that would be great.
Please tell me this is sung to the tune of "Rock me, Amadeus."

Free except for the fact that you had to pay to get into the park. So I guess it was free like Space Mountain is free.
And taken away like putting them at Boardwalk. Where they’re actually free lol.

I go to WDW frequently, starting in 1998. Can't stand the Country Bears, dislike the Carousel of Progress (although oddly my 34 yo DD likes it, she made us go on it in 2018 and we got stuck in the same room for multiples of the same scene, had to force the doors open because no help was coming.) So not all regulars will even care about this change, I doubt it will cause a major shift in attendance or profits. There have been things I have liked over the years that have gone away, it is what it is.

I'm sorry. I'm not averse to all things new, but this musical score is going to completely change the whole show. This is not a refurb like we were initially led to believe but a total overhaul. My kids cried watching the previews, and the songs, other than the Bear Necessities, have no place in this show. I'm going to have to move into the TIKI room before they destroy that too. I get that these are not the most popular attractions, but when I would stop in once on every visit, my entire childhood flooded back to me and my kids feel the same. What is wrong with appreciating what it was for the time it was made in and cleaning up the costumes and animatronics but keeping it the same?
What happened what people were offended by what liver lips meant. I have been going to Disney for 8 years now and I am 16 and I refused to go and sit in country bare jamboree because live lips was my favorite bear. Disney didn’t want to “offend anyone” that is what splash mountain got changed as well even tho in the same play that the fox was pushing the brier bear into the tree there is a alligator with its but in the air like that isn’t offended but it isn’t right. Disney is changing a lot right next to country bear jamboree the shooting rang is being made into a country bear jamboree restaurant. Disney is making so many changes like DAS this year too and my last trip Tiana’s bayou was down more than open so it is scared to see what else they change in the future.

I went to CBJ last week. The show was mostly full and almost all of the audience loved it. I didn't.

I watched the new version of CBJ on YouTube, and was dismayed. They made a hash of this formerly charming and cute show. And aren't they supposed to be country bears? Why on earth are they singing songs from Disney movies (especially grossly overused tunes like "You got a Friend in Me". That song is all over the place in Toy Story Land).

Does someone at Disney hate Frontierland? First the unnecessary Splash retheme, then this CBJ disaster...and they remove the great, retro Shootin' Arcade to put in yet another DVC sales spot >:( Oh yeah, DVC, that really fits into the Frontierland theme :(:sad2:

The International Society of Liver Lips People were planning a protest...

I have a soft spot for tradition, the old original things too.

But, this show was FIFTY years old.

FIFTY YEARS.

Whether I'm a huge fan of the changes or not, I can't really take a lot of offense for them changing this show.
But they did a LOUSY JOB of changing the show. The new version is disjointed, confused, and has very little country music (this is a show in Frontierland, hello!).

There's no flow to this show. And don't get me started about what they did to the great Big Al. It's like he was neutered.

All in all, a big, disappointing downgrade.

It's not that Disney hates Frontierland, it's that people hate Frontierland. Let's face it, the old west/westerns aren't a big draw anymore. CBJ was always empty, and the Shootin' Arcade, even when set to free play, was never crowded. I do wish they had put something else in aside from a DVC lounge, but these were underutilized areas. With CBJ it was either try this or scrap it completely - I am glad they at least gave it a shot! I have not seen the new show yet, but at least, for now, it is drawing people in.

One other thing I would say after seeing the show in person last week and liking it. I saw it on you tube first and was disappointed, but it was better in person. I think this was because there is a lot more banter back and forth between the characters in different locations on stage and on the wall and the person taking the video can’t move the camera to capture all of it. I felt like I was in the middle of all the action of the show. I thought it was a lot better in person so I would recommend you give the show a try next time you are in Magic Kingdom.

It's not a very big space. It was either a lounge, a(nother) storefront, or a snack kiosk behind walls. The latter two aren't really needed in FrL---at least, not as far as I can see.

I agree and then when the had splash down they did fix any of the machines of it and now when you ride it the boats are hitting what feels like the bottom and definitely the sides it isn’t a pleasant ride anymore and we all know Walt is rolling in his grave because they are changing Disney all around like why

No, I don't buy the premise that "people hate Frontierland." That's bogus. Nostalgia is a big part of the charm of Disney parks, particularly the Magic Kingdom. You say CBJ was "always empty" but I always saw a good audience in there every time we went (during October visits). The Shootin' Arcade always had players, even when they charged $1 per rifle. And Splash and Big Thunder have always been perennial favorites.

My point about the Shootin' Arcade is that they replaced an attraction with yet another annoying booth full of salespeople. That's a disservice to guests. You can't escape DVC hawkers in the parks, and now there's even more of 'em. Gee, thanks, guys. And, as a bonus, it breaks the theme of the land, too.

It's obvious that they made a cold calculation: we'll make more money with a DVC booth than with the arcade. Will the guests like that? Uh, who cares?

Nostalgia for who? I don’t know anyone under the age of 60 who has nostalgia for old westerns tbh. I’m sure some people do but it’s not the masses. Most people with young kids now days have nostalgia for 90s Disney and not the Wild West. Personally I thought the show was a bit crass and never planned to revisit. Now I might. I don’t mind crass when it’s an adult themed attraction but CBJ was presented as family fun.

I liked the shooting gallery mostly because my (70+)dad loved showing off on it but I understand why they removed it. If you really want to go shooting it’s not like Disney is your only option in the US.

On the whole I think Disney did a good job in changing their image to appeal to younger families.
