I'm sorry. I'm not averse to all things new, but this musical score is going to completely change the whole show. This is not a refurb like we were initially led to believe but a total overhaul. My kids cried watching the previews, and the songs, other than the Bear Necessities, have no place in this show. I'm going to have to move into the TIKI room before they destroy that too. I get that these are not the most popular attractions, but when I would stop in once on every visit, my entire childhood flooded back to me and my kids feel the same. What is wrong with appreciating what it was for the time it was made in and cleaning up the costumes and animatronics but keeping it the same?

It’s difficult when they make changes to the attractions we love. Tiki Birds has changed a few times over the years (I don’t know how I survived that version with Iago, and the fact that he went up in flames seemed like pure karma). I try to reserve judgment until I see the new version, but considering what they did to Imagination over at Epcot (one of my favorite rides in its original form) they miss as often as they get it right. Let’s hope the new Country Bears show is good in its own way.

I'll go setup shop at Carousel of Progress since you already have Tiki Room covered. :D

Don't even get me started on that one. I am also stressed that they are changing that!!!!!

Who cares if the final scene is advanced enough...we get it. Aren't we all smart enough to realize that? Plus I think it's kind of cool that it resembles so much of today and that they had the ability to foresee it so accurately!

Well, they did say from the beginning that there will be an all-new show with songs from teh Disney catalog. I can understand not liking it, but it wasn't a surprise.
Yea it had a good run. While I love the current show for nostalgia some of the songs have not evolved with the times. New songs are fine with me at least the Bears and the theater will survive.

I don’t know anything about the remake, but I know the last time we went it was wholly inappropriate and it in no way had aged well at all. We are pretty laid back on topics we would discuss when our kids were little and we were appalled. Nostalgia aside, it needed to go.

What’s the issue?
Mama doesn’t even whoop little Buford no more. :teeth:

We went to Country Bears a couple of trips back because it was pouring rain outside and dry in the theater. We didn't particularly enjoy it and remembered why we only go in every decade or so. I have some nice nostalgic memories from when I was a child in the 70s, but it just didn't hold up for me or for my husband. I'm looking forward to seeing the update - I enjoy the Disney songs and think it will be fun to see the bears' version!

By no means an expert, what we remember is “Blood, blood everywhere”, lots of suggestive leering at girl/women characters, “every man that turns me on turns me down”…..I’m sure there was more, but that’s what I remember off the top of my head years later.

well, all of that is indeed in the show. I guess it's just a matter of whether or not on thinks it is inappropriate. I don't really - it's just for fun. The songs are jokes. The one song about blood...

There was blood on the saddle and blood all around
And a great big puddle of blood on the ground
A cowboy lay in it all covered with gore
And he never will ride any broncos no more
Oh, pity the cowboy, all bloody and red
For the bronco fell on him and bashed in his head
There was blood on the saddle and blood all around
And a great big puddle of blood on the ground

So the joke is that his horese fell on him. It's the unexpected reason that makes it funny.

We’re on the opposite side. I adore Mac McAnnally so having him brought in to help with the music is a huge win for me.

Like others had mentioned, it didn’t age well and the last time we tried to go in with our kids it was so run down it was embarrassing. I’d give it the benefit of the doubt until you have a chance to see it, in its entirety, in person.

Yeah, while I certainly didn't find the old show to be inappropriate, I can admit that it is largely irrelevant today. It's good to refresh it. I do hope they do a new version of the opening number though - that is an original song for the show.
