Am I taking a big chance......
Waiting to January to book a studio for May 08?

Would prefer Saratoga Springs, but would take anywhere, from 29 April - 8 May?

What do you think? Would love to book now, but may not be in a position to until Christmas. Do you think there should still be availability?

I would think you should be okay. We booked in March for a studio Mother's day weekend. We could only get into SSR. WE waitlisted for BWV and got it.

I booked an early May trip in Feb last year and SSR had availability (studio). That was the only resort with availability at the time of booking.

Why not book now?

Am waiting to get flights in sale, so my dates could vary by a day or two, and as I need to rent points, I suppose its better to wait until I have definite dates.

It's not "better to wait until I have definite dates!" It's mandatory. No owner with a brain would rent to you unless your dates were absolutely set in stone.

If you book a ressie without firm dates, you really have nothing and you risk losing your deposit if your dates change and there is no availability. Talk about "...taking a big chance!"

As others have said, you should be fine getting SSR for May in January. May is a pretty slow time (and our favorite time of the year to visit!) Have a great trip!

Oh, I see. I didn't realize you were renting points. The good news is you prefer SSR in a fairly slow month (May) so you have a very good chance of getting what you want in Jan. Have a great trip!
