We had a wonderful week. This was the first time we actually stayed at okw with our dvc (last year we just bought okw). We were a party of 6 and we booked a 2 bedroom villa building 41 near turtle pond road.

My husband and I are so very happy we bought here. We love turtle pond road area especially the pool not too big...not too small. I could truely see
staying there without even going to the parks. The whole resort looks so tropical and is definetly has that relaxing feel to it.
Looking forward to our next trip!!

That's so great! It's wonderful when the match is that perfect!

I'm thinking of booking there in Dec 2011 for a relaxing vacation and not spending too much time in the parks.. what is there to do in the resort itself? did you try Olivia's? We haven't stayed there yet so any info is appreciated.

Welcome Home to OKW. I have been a member there for over 14 years, and have never regretted my purchase.

Before my father passed away a couple of years ago, he and I would go down to OKW to spend the days golfing, relaxing by the pool, and going to dinner at various restaurants at other Disney resorts...never entering the parks. There is plenty to do outside of the parks at WDW. You just need to take the time to explore the world.

Again, welcome home!

Welcome Home! Glad you had such a nice trip-OKW is a beautiful resort! :)

We were down in July, staying in another resort, and made a side trip to Olivia's for lunch after leaving Blizzard Beach one day, just because. It's such a relaxing atmosphere there!

Welcome Home Neighbor & glad you enjoyed your trip !! We  our OKW home too :goodvibes

I hope to make it to OKW in the next few years. Although not an owner there, my cousin has been an owner there for many years (bought way back when they gave them 8 years of free park passes!) and has always raved about it. I wish I knew about DVC prior to two years ago -- I would have bought in LONG ago!

Glad to hear you had a great vacation! We love OKW (especially the turtle pond area)....the 1-bedroom villa's are the best.

OKW is our home too and we love it there. Love the tropical-ness, love the pools, love the balconies, love the gift shop, love the snack bar by the main pool, love the little boat to DTD...love it all....

We agree with you, and that part of OKW is so lovely. We loved the feel of relaxation there so much that after our first stay there, we sold off our points elsewhere, and bought resale at OKW.

I'm so glad you had a great trip!! :thumbsup2 OKW looks so beautiful...hope one day to stay there.

Been OKW owners since 1995 and LOVE it!!!

The suites are the biggest of any DVC, the resort is wonderfully relaxing and Olivia's is one of the best restaurants on property (always our first stop when we arrive)!!!

Welcome Home!

We spent two restful, delightful weeks at OKW in early August -- our first trip there -- and liked it very much!

Early on, we decided to spend fewer days in the parks, and more days just relaxing at the resort. It was an excellent decision (if I do say so myself).

Among other things, we liked the MASSIVE villas, and the "vacation-y" feel of the place. (Unlike, say, SSR, which left us cold...)

There are all the usual things at OKW: bikes and boats to rent, shuffleboard, swimming, golfing (right outside your door), jogging trails, a busy arcade for the kids. Olivia's is terrific; I had b'fast there twice, and dinner twice, and every meal was great. (Try the Banana Bread French Toast one morning. Then e-mail me when you wake up from your diabetic coma. :thumbsup2 )
It's one of the better reasonably-priced sit-down restaurants in The World, with a friendly staff and a cheerful, laid-back atmosphere.

Go for it. And have a wonderful time. You won't regret it. (December is a fun time to visit The World anyway, between the decorations and the relatively low crowds and generally pleasant weather...)
