Am I still too big for Universal ?

My last trip to Universal caused me to change my life for this exact reason. I went on a trip with my family and friends for New Years in 2011 and we hit the parks. I was 6/1 350llbs and could not fit in a lot of the rides including FJ, Mummy and The Simpsons. It was very frustrating and the staff was polite and nice. I tried not to let my friends and family know how much it hurt me but I was devastated. It was a uncomfortable for all of us. In fact they had to stop the Simpsons ride because it was hurting me. I decided that was just the motivation I needed. I formulated a plan and made changes in everything I do with food. I am now 267llbs and have shrunk my chest from 67 inches to 52 inches. My goal is to reach 250 by the end of the year. And I am planning on a trip back to Universal to take my victory lap by fitting into every ride I want to ride in June of 2013 at 225llb. Man it feels good to write that. So, hang in there. If you don't fit, realize that you are not alone.

you are awesome!
you have made a life changing event and continue with it.

congrats on the weight loss.
i know you will continue so you can reach your goal.

losing 83 lbs is fantastic!

Super congrats on the weight loss! I know how hard that can be! I want to prepare you though, as i got quite a shock in Universal last month. I am 5'9", and had dieted down about 30 pounds before my vacation, which put me at about 230... I could NOT get on the HP Forbidden Journey ride, not even the modified seating. I cried for half an hour in Myrtle's bathroom afterwards. I don't mean to be a downer, but I want you to be prepared, just in case, so you won't be totally shocked like I was if you can't fit. Please make sure to have a blast either way!!! :)

:hug::hug::hug::hug:

And that just shows you it's all about your own body proportions. I'm 5'3" and the last time I was at Universal I was 220 (though I didn't know it), and I was fine in the modified. Not even uncomfortable. But I was carrying the weight *everywhere*, even my feet were bigger and I don't want to talk about my calves. If I had a body type where it was concentrated in one area, it would have been harder, or impossible for me.

So it's all body type.

(that trip was the last straw for me...the foot pain, the leg pain, the everything...I"m not sure it was a week after we got home from our bicoastal Disneyland/Universal Florida trip when I rejoined Weight Watchers! I'm 40.6 lbs down, almost halfway to goal! DH joined days after I did, and he's making great progress as well! next time we see Universal, it's going to be VERY different for us all.)

I leave for wdw tommorow and ill be going to u.s on the 31st. Unfortunately I have not lost any additional weight. I got really lazy and lost my motivation. I'm down only two additional pounds. I'm the smallest I've ever been in years but I'm still very large. I hope I have good news to report next week. I hope all the walking in disney world helps out :p

In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy myself. The last time I went to wdw I was huge. I was embarassed and squished into most rides. I visited my family this week. They haven't seen me in months and they were shocked at my transformation. My mother gasped and said omg look how much smaller your thighs are! I can't believe it please keep it up you look great. Those words meant so much to me. I felt amazing . I'm. Wearing my most forgiving stretch capri shorts and a tight fitting shirt. I think it"ll help because jeans are bulkier.

Can't believe I am going to write this. I am at USIOA today. I have been so worried about fitting on the Harry Potter ride. (sorry, the name escapes me). I am 5' 7" and weigh 250. I typically wear a 20/22 and have most of my weight in my middle/butt and ****s which are 46DD. I could easily get it to the 2nd click but the ride operator asked me to pull down while they pushed on it with one finger to get the 3rd click. It was a bit snug but once the ride began all my, ahem, fat shifted around and I had room to spare. I did try sitting up straighter but that actually made it tighter in my middle. Next time I think I will try scooting down some to see if that helps. Hope this helps someone else feel better about fitting. I did do the test seat at the front to be sure before my 1st attempt. I am pretty claustrophobic too but I did good on this ride anyway. HTH! :)

Regardless of which rides you're able to go on, have a great time and enjoy the time away! It's awesome that you've lost so much weight and more will come off with time. Try not to beat up on yourself for lacking motivation and start from where you are now, day by day.

That's interesting. What happened that it was so painful that they could see that it was too much?
When the bar came down I was able to get it to click and thought I could make it work. I couldn't so they came back in before we were elevated and released me. It was not cool.

first off, I LOVE your screen name! Now...I read thru all 4 pages about your impending trip to US last summer and then nothing...I am dying to know how it worked for you, especially the HP. I am short and fat with that badonkeydonk butt so I am interested as we are making our first universal trip in December.

Congrats on the weight loss!

There's a whole other, very long thread about size and Forbidden Journey. Just do a search for it.

why don't they make the seats bigger I am 5 feet and 123 pounds I would like to go back to universal studios but might not fit but my family will only let me lose 3 more pounds at the most

Ok - not funny. And if you weren't joking, you need to seek counseling...
5 feet and 123 is within the healthy range.
But I'm pretty sure you are aware that at your size you will fit into everything - so your comment is just plain mean. There are people who struggle every single day of their lives with obesity - and losing large amounts of weight is a huge accomplishment - not just for their appearance an being able to fit into a coaster, but for the years it will add to their lives.
Sorry, I have close friends that suffer with their weight / so your post really got my dander up.

Never mind....

And I'm realizing now that this is a very old thread!

And it seems as if the OP was a TROLL! Yuck!! I hate being sucked in by (1) old threads and (2) fake posters!
