Am I silly or smart?

Ok. . .so here's a little backstory for me and my DF.

Lorne and I have been together for 9 years and marriage has always been a goal of ours. Life, just seemed to always get in the way. Currently, we live together in Orlando and are finally in a place where getting married is an option.

So, we bought an engagement ring and he has it in his possession. But, he has not yet officially proposed! :)

We are so happy that DFTW is now offering the Memories Collection and have decided to get married in the month of our 10th anniversary together (June 2011)!!

I know he's going to propose before Christmas, but he wants it to be a surprise. . .he has something up his sleeve!:confused3

I'm just curious, is it silly I'm already planning a wedding when I haven't officially been proposed to? I know it's going to happen and I just want to prepare.

I dont think your being silly - if it was me i would start looking into planing now as june isnt that far away. You know at some stage he is going to propose it will just be a nice surprise when he does. We are booked in to have ours in may next year and theres loads to organise before then. Its took us over two weeks just to decide on a resort as we keep changing our minds.

Congrats when he eventually does.

I was in this same boat... and it felt so awkward! I knew my proposal was coming (the holdup was that he still hadn't bought the ring...). In the meantime, he kept encouraging me to contact DFTW to see about dates and venue availability. So I did, but before I knew it, it was time to seal the deal with the DFTW sales consultant and then I had to tell her that we weren't officially engaged. I was so embarassed, figuring she probably thought I was one of those "wishful thinking" brides... But I just didn't feel comfortable booking the wedding until I had a chance to review the date (and for that matter, the destination!) with our families. Our consultant was very understanding and she was able to hold our date for a couple of extra days while we got our ducks in a row.

But that said, it took us several weeks to decide on a venue, so I don't think there is any harm in making some preliminary contacts, even while you wait on the official engagement. Good luck!!! Our DFTW was a couple of weeks ago and it totally exceeded our expectations. I'll be posting a trip report soon...

Well, if you've bought the ring and have already set a date, then you're engaged, ring or no! Congrats and welcome to this wonderful forum filled with Disney obsessed brides (and grooms!) :D!

Thanks so much for the support!

It's been a running joke at work. . has he proposed yet. . .yada yada. . .

I guess I'm getting a little impatient on my end too. . .I can't wait to have the ring on my finger!

Haven't been proposed to as well yet since we both work for the mouse, it's really easy to get carried away on what we want to do since we know the locations and food menus all too well. Even if we don't want to think about it, we can't help it since we both love Disney a lot. We find ourselves saying "oh, this would be a great dessert option "if we were to get hitched." :rotfl:

We both know it'll happen one day, but I guess all I can do is plan to my hearts content. No joke, I think I'm already like 80 percent done planning AND IT'S NOT EVEN OFFICIAL YET!

I remember seeing friends in middle school with their brides magazines and thought to myself, "jeez, thinking about it so young?" Now I know why! Planning for a wedding, no matter where it is, it's just so much fun. So don't feel bad girl and just have fun planning.

It is NOT silly for you to be planning a wedding when he hasn't proposed! Girls plan for their weddings for their entire lives. He must have something very special in mind!

dont worry! ive been planning my wedding for 2 years now and i know its not going to be until 2014 and DBF hasnt proposed just yet..we have talked about it tons tho and agreed on a date and everything..we are just waiting until we are more stable financially..so go ahead and enjoy planning it especially since its so soon! :goodvibes

If it makes you feel better, I had the wedding booked, dress bought, and unofficial invitations (emails) sent out before he ever had the ring in his possession. So I don't think its silly at all.
