Am I reading Ticket Pricing correctly...10 days versus 5 days

Just want to make sure I understand the ticket purchases....We go to Disney about every other year and usually get 5 day park hoppers.

If I get the 5 day hopper with no expiration, I believe the cost is about $256. However if I purchase the 10 day hopper with no expiration the cost is about $332.

So for the extra $76 per ticket, I could get 5 days basically paid for on my next trip down. This would basically save be a thousand dollars for my family of 5.

Is this right?

Thanks

John

I would imagine that it is correct, the whole goal of Disney is to get you to buy longer tickets by saying that it is cheaper the longer you stay so the extra days and the no expiration option may be reasonably cheap and you can use them next time.

Yes!
Can you believe it?
We crunched the numbers over and over.
If you know you are going back - you might as well get the 10 day no expiration. AND if you like the water parks and DQ, get the PLUS option! Our entire family got the 10 plus 5. That's 15 days at Disney for approx. $25 per person per day. For our family, that's enough for 3 Disney trips!

This is exactly what I did for our family of 5. If you sign up for Mousesavers & use the link to ticketmasters in the monthly newsletter, you can save even more. It's great having the tickets for the next trip paid for already.

John,
Although your info is correct I see one thing that you might want to factor. If you are taking a 5 day trip there is no need to pay the extra for the non-expire option for the 5 day ticket as you will use the entire ticket more than likely. You have 14 days from the first use to use all 5 days. So leaving out that option the 5 day with hop is $221+tax. If you were to use the 10 day ticket you would have to pay for the non-expire option which the increase significantly at the 8 day mark I believe. So the price for the 10 day hop+ non expire is $332+tax . So the difference is acctually $111+taxes. Now this is still a great deal if you are going to take that next trip because it cuts your ticket price in half for your next trip. The only downfall is if there is an offer you want to take advantage of that is with a package, but even then you can just purchase the package with one day tickets or you can but length of stay tickets with your package and save your non-expired days for another time when there is a good room only rate, or special airfare. Hope this helps.

Well, it's more like $86 including tax (specifically $86.26) but yep!
5 day non expiring hopper = $280.10
10 day non expiring hopper = $366.36

Or you can save more money with advance purchase
5 day non expiring hopper = $239.63
10 day non expiring hopper = $321.63

i had thought the same thing till I saw the enormous charge to make a 10 day non expiring . according to what some have said , the passes you would buy that are 1 day only ( if a good package comes along before you go)will be in the names of all your party ( 1 each in other words) so only they can use them later which is ok if it's your little kids and you, not good if it's with other adults like me since it means i'd have another outlay for not much use.

Man! I wish I'd of thought of that!

But I guess I can use this option when I buy our next round of tickets!

I did this analysis, and even though my husband and I are on the free dining package this time, we only bought one day base tickets through Disney and 10 day non-expiring w/ plus tickets for the rest of the trip through the Mousesavers link at Ticketmaster (we will probably only use five park days, and possibly no plusses this time.) Between comparing what tix would have cost through Disney (since you have to pay full price) and the discount I got on the 10 days, I figured that the one-day tickets only REALLY cost me $16/day/each. (I can send you the entire formula I used to justify this if you really need me to.)

This way, the next trip we take will only require a ticket purchase for ONE child (as our younger one will be under 3), and will either mean a much cheaper trip, or staying at a deluxe. Choices, choices.

The down side is that b/c I am on a package, my discount tickets cannot be added to my room key. But, I figure they are each so small that it isn't going to matter that much.

Thanks for the help...now where is the cheapest place (if there really is a cheaper place) to purchase the 10 day hopper non expiring passes?

If you purchase the 10 day non expiring, hopping with plus options and use none of them on this trip, when do they expire? Are the sepperate and have their own no expire feature, or when the last of your 10 day no expire pass is used are the plus features then expired themselves? Reason I'm asking, we always go in Jan and unless it's crazy warm for then, we skip the H2O parks, however we might save them for another trip. We used to go in August (last week when most Southern schools were in ), but haven't done that lately due to kids starting sports. But if they (the plus options) didn't expire, we could just hold on to them forever? What is the price difference between the 10 day no exp hopper and the 10 day no expire with plus option? Thanks :cool1:
