I just read from the DDxP and up a childs credit can be used as an adult one can someone please explain the difference to me from the regular DDP to the DDxP.. With the prices and all not sure I am getting it Thank you in advance..

We have been speculating tha perhaps on teh DxDDP all of the credits will be pooled and therefore there will be no distinction between a child credit and an adult. To me, the verbiage that others have said is part of the bruchurs is that children must order from the childrens menu is contrary to the credit pool, but no one seems to know how this will work.

Personally, I think Disney is moving towards selling ore packages that include their dining plans, and is trying to remove any barriers that may make people feel that these packages are not going to be worth the money. It looks like you can use the credits for people who are not on your room reservation but we don't know if thise is happening either.

Kids and adults DxDDP credits have always been pooled, much like QS credits are on the regular DDP. There has never been any distinction between them and they have always been interchangeable. When dining plan changes were announced by the blogs, it was stated that kids could order adult meals if they wanted, but, as Nancyg56 said, the official 2016 brochure states that children must order kid's meals if available so it doesn't appear that change is happening.

I am generally a pretty smart person who can take information, process it then and who can use that information. But HOLY DOUBLESPEAK! When it comes to dining plans and how peole can actually use them,
Disney:1 Nancy: 0!!!!!!

We are not cheater cheater pumpin eaters, so we have never "maximized" plans, but this trip one of our rooms has th DxDDP and the other room has the regular DDP. We are always over on our credits, and we always share appetizers before our evening meals, so after the "news" stated we could poole credits and that they could be shared with folks not in the same room, we upgraded one room. Go figure that after doing that I find that we still don't know how this will work, and if it is within the rules. Oh well, we can still share the appetizers ordered, and this will still reduce the OOP spending for meals we would have had, but I'll tell you, if Disney could improve one thing, I would ask that they learn how to provide clear, complete, and concise information that is accurate no matter which CM you speak to, every time you speak to speck to them.

I hear you, @Nancyg56! They have really done a poor job with communicating these changes. I bet you will be able to share with people who don't have DxDDP though, that one seems to he happening. Pay OOP for any kids and use those credits on the adults. I have done this several times even before the changes. :)

Jenjersnap is right..it's always been allowed but not advertised
For example
we were 2 adults 2 kids under 10 on DxDP for 14 days=168 credits on our package
our other 2 adult family members visited Orlando for a week no dining plan staying off site.
we met for meals often and paid oop for kids meals and used our credits for 4 adults to eat. We ate at times without kids and dined just 4 adults ..never an Iissue using credits

they need to make it clearer from what I read on some sights you can now use child meals for an adult if my child doesn't want to eat off the kids menu I guess I will have to wait and see what happens

IMO, for right now, it is fairly clear that kids won't be able to order anything they want, based on page 2 of the official brochure under "Redeeming your meals" http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...altDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2016DeluxeDining.pdf

"Guests ages 3-9 must order from a children's menu when available"

I am unsure where or how this message went awry, but I would hesitate to believe everything I read from bloggers. They are known to be wrong sometimes. The original message may have been miscommunicated. Disney may have changed their minds (as they seem to have done re: appetizers on DxDDP)...we just don't know. Also, there is time before 2016 for a reversal too...we probably wouldn't know until someone notices that phrase mysteriously disappearing from the brochure since Disney tends not to announce these things formally.

To be clear, it's always been possible, but never allowed.

Disney has made it clear. Someone started a rumor and a few sites seem to have run with it, adding more credibility to the old loophole.
