Am I packing beach towels for the kids?

Am I packing character beach towels for my character-obsessed dds (i.e. For beaches and pool), or will the white towels they give you suffice? I'm afraid if they see lots of other kids with character towels, they will want theirs....

Personally, I wouldn't pack beach towels just because "they might want them". The luggage is typically heavy enough with the things that you must bring. There are plenty of (white) towels to be used. If my kids said they wanted to have their own towel, they'd be carrying it in their backpack (taking space away from what items they want to bring).

Yes, there will be people using other than the supplied towels, but it's your call. Remember you'll have to keep them washed and fresh.

Agree with Shmoo. Beach towels suck up alot of space in the luggage. Use the white towels for a constant supply of fresh towels. It would be a hassle to keep track of their character towels at the beach/pool. We did not see anyone lugging along beach towels from home.

And you'll have to keep track of them.

When I was a kid, we always got a beach towel as a souvie. I am training my kids into that. The Castaway Cay towels are super-cute!

I agree....you need room to bring home fun stuff! Tell the kids that Mickey gives them clean, fresh towels just for them every day :)

We've been on several cruises and I have to say i cannot recall anyone with special towels other than ones purchased on the ship or CC. Seems like one more.thing you don't need or might lose (we've stressed several times over what we thought were lost lovies on board! ). Plus it might never fully dry. But we also.don't pack hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner or lotion bc we try to eliminate things supplied on board.

As others have noted, there are plenty of towels available. The one time you might want a different towel though is if you're taking an excursion to a big beach, or on Castaway Cay. Having that one brightly colored towel that stands out from all the white towels can help you to find your chair area.

Yes! Thank you! Definitely the answers I wanted to hear! Just didn't want to disappoint them if every other kid was going to have one!

Jumping on this thread...what about excursions? Does Disney give you one when you leave the ship?

Yes... and they expect you to bring them back, but you don't sign for them or anything, which is nice.

If I recall, they did have towels in the meeting place when we did our DCL excursion, but we just grabbed some towels from the pool area and had them already packed in a backpack for all of our excursions (DCL or non-DCL). There are bins to put your used towels in prior to reboarding the ship.

We actually buy a beach towel on the cruise as a souvenir because they are so cute and useful at home...reminds me of our trips!

Only guests actually staying on 11 are essentially forced into the adult area. Deck 12, where most concierge cabins are located, runs all the way across and does not touch the adult area.

I can't remember, have we discussed the absurdity of the funnel puddle overlooking the adult pool? Talk about stacking bad design decisions.

I would not bother bring towel but we did see some cute bands people put around a towel on their beach chair to help find them.

The only kids with towels you generally see are those ones that are kind of ponchos, with the hood, that just hang over the shoulders, and even that's rare, I think that's more for getting to and from the pool or sitting on the side of the pool for lunch or a drink or ice cream or whatever.

There are plenty of fresh, white laundered towels on board by the pools. There are also towels as you get off the ship at ports where you might need them for a port adventure. As mentioned previously, just drop your used towels in the bins on your way back onto the ship. Why do extra laundry? You are on vacation, too!!!

My son also loves his character beach towels. We have never taken them on the ship but we do take one for our day at Cocoa Beach prior to our cruise. That way he gets the towel to use before the ship and we don't have to carry it onboard (just leave it in the car).
