DH has to be in San Diego for a one day conference over Labor Day weekend - (Saturday)

We have enough points at the Sheraton to get a 3 night stay free. I was thinking about driving down Friday afternoon - from Sacramento with DS 6, spending Saturday in the park just the 2 of us and having DH meet us and spend Sunday and part of Monday at the parks before heading back to N. Ca. Are the crowds going to be horrid that weekend? DS is 6 and this will be our first visit to DL.

piglet I live in Merced which is not quite 2 hrs S. of you on the 99 fwy...I take this trip several times a year and if there is anything that I have learned its the time of day to go and not to go...if there is ANY WAY AT ALL that you can go early early early in the morning I would strongly recommend you doing that...if you wait till friday afternoon to leave, it will take you FOREVER to get to anaheim...when I go I tend to leave Merced at 4 or 5 am so that I can beat all the traffic incoming...I can get there typically in 4 1/2 to 5 hours but if you have to leave in the afternoon you are going to be dealing with not only after work traffic but also weekend and a HOLIDAY weekend at that...so you should expect to get into anaheim late into the night...I also would recommend that you NOT take the 5 fwy once you get into LA...there is another way to go that is the same distance but you wont have to deal with the amount of traffic that you will have to on the 5 from LA to anaheim....seriously I would rethink travel time but I would definitely do it for sure

I'm in NorCal and also recommend leaving early. Leaving early is the best way to avoid L.A. traffic which just saps you.
