We have an ADR at Chef Mickey's for 7:05 AM on the last day of our trip. It was the only Chef Mickey's I could get, and it's something we've wanted to do since our last trip. I'm not worried about not being up early enough, DD is an early bird, but she crashes for a nap around 11. Thing is, checkout is at 11, and we fly out around 8:00 that night. We are going to be dead tired trekking around all day, basically roomless, with nowhere to nap. Should I cancel the oh-so-coveted Chef Mickey's in exchange for a little more sleep? Or should we just go for it?

What to do? Are there any things we can do that I'm not thinking of?

Please help! :worship:

Don't cancel! If you can't get a late checkout, most hotels will let you use their facilities on checkout day. You can go back to the room, checkout, and go to the pool if you can't get a late checkout. What about going to a park that day? If you're staying on property, you could have your bags stored for you, go to breakfast, and then off to a park. I would also suggest maybe doing Disney Quest, or going shopping at DTD. They have a huge movie theater there. You could see a movie (or 2). There's no doubt it will be a long day for you, but I wouldn't cancel Chef Mickeys. If it were me, I'd be regretting it the entire trip home. Have fun!

I can't tell by your post when your trip is, but I just scheduled an ADR for Chef Mickeys for the end of July, so I say keep trying to get something a little later. I would also consider lunch at Chef Mickeys, have you tried that? I just know that you are going to need that time for packing, travel to & from the Contemporary (unless that is where you are staying). What will you do from check out time till say 5pm when you need to leave for the airport? I would really suggest that you call back for a lunch ressie & if they have one, check out at 11am & then have them keep your luggage until you can get back to your hotel.

If you absolutely cannot get another ADR (and really keep trying until the day before, you never know!) then ask your hotel for a late check out. Everyone says that Disney doesn't do late check out but we have been able to do that every time I have asked. This would give you more time to finish packing & rest a bit after your b'fast. Good luck!

I've been regretting it since September 2006!

That is what I was told by the CM booking the reservation, that we can still use their pools, check the baggage, etc. I didn't think an early checkout was an option, but I'm gonna try for one anyway! A movie at DTD sounds great, we'll be exhausted by then!

We're going to be at All Star Sports from 8/31 to 9/5.

I'm also gonna try to keep calling and calling and calling for Chef Mickey's. DH *really* wanted the breakfast, but we already have two character breakfasts lined up, aside from Chef Mickey's. Someone has to cancel, right? You'd think? Maybe? I'd honestly prefer a lunch myself, I'm not much a breakfast girl.

If not, we'll book it back to the hotel (All Star Sports) and attempt to nap, or just chill for a bit. Lucky DD, she gets to hang out in a stroller all day!

Cross your fingers for me that we either get a lunch ressie or a late checkout!!

If you cannot change your ADR and cannot get a late check-out, I would just recommend doing something quiet while DD is in the stroller. Find a quiet place in one of the parks, take a slow walk and enjoy the scenery, have a seat and if DD is tired enough (especially if you do it around her usual nap time), she may just sleep in the stroller and you don't have to worry about her missing the nap.

I would keep the Chef Mickey breakfast. Last year, we had a 7am ADR at Chef Mickey and as soon as we were seated, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy all came to our table all at once and since they weren't so busy at that time, they just stayed around and interact with our dd and ds until more people came. It also was our last day at WDW, and that was a great way to end our trip! Our kids love the attention from the all the characters together! Only difference is...we did stay at the Contemporary so we didn't have to travel to Chef Mickey.

I would keep Chef mickey,. We have 1900 parkfare on the day we . We are hoping for a later flight.

I ran into this problem myself, I hated that we had such a late flight and we were going to be "roomless" luckily, I checked the flights and it was the same amount of money to leave the next day in the morning so I booked one more night at the resort, the extra $ was worth it to me. BUT, to answer your question, I say keep the ressie, you can always take a nap by the pool, when I was stuck in this position I called and found out that we would have been able to use the pool all day - even after check out.

You didn't say if you planned on visiting any of the parks on your last day ... if you are then I have a solution for you: The Baby Care Centers! Perfect place for a little one to grab a quick nap and lots of A/C and comfy chairs for Mom&Dad, too. There is one at each park and they are wonderful. The CMs that work in them are usually retired folks that seem to love the role of surrogate grandparents and there are often younger CMs that seem to all be studying Early Childhood at college. Lots of fun for the little ones and can give you a much needed break. I can not say enough wonderful things about these places.

So, I say keep the ADR for Chef Mickey's! Keep trying to find a time that might fit better with your schedule, but if you don't I think that this meal is a wonderful way to end your trip!

Have a great day - Jennie

OHHH!! Great idea!! I didn't think of that! I've heard all about these Baby Care centers, but I've never been to one.

I think it's a good way to end the trip-- go out with a bang, so to speak!!

Thanks!

I wonder if we can do this, after all our last day is on a Friday! I wonder how much it would be to change our flights, or if it would be worth it. Worth a shot to call!

We arrived around noon for our trip in Oct and my DDthen 3 really needs her nap. Our room was not ready-- and eneded up being very late being ready. Anyway, I put a blanket down on a sofa on the second floor of the GF and got her to take a short nap and at least refresh herself a bit. It was relatively quiet in one of the alcoves and the band was not playing.

Hmm. Didn't think of this... buses apparently won't be running that early, and DH and I aren't comfortable taking DD on a taxi ride without a carseat. (She's too big for the infant seat/carrier.)

So,... even if we keep our reservation, we can't get there in time anyway!
We're going to be staying at All Star Sports on 9/5, and the ressie is for 7:05. We can get a ressie for 9/3, which woruld work.. but it's also at 7:05!!
Any ideas?

Cripes. I had no idea it was such a bad time to go!

That's a good idea, the GF gets pretty quiet and peaceful!

It will mean a VERY early morning, but I think it can still be done. You will need to take the first bus to MK from your resort, they usually start running at 6:30 because of early ADRs at the park restaurants. Once at MK, take the monorail around to the Contemporary ... you might be a bit late but should still be seated. Just smile nicely at the CM who is at the host stand and explain where you were coming from and what Disney transportation you took ... they are usually very understanding and accomodating in these situations -- at least they always have been to me. Also, it doesn't hurt to have your little ones with you when you approach the check - in desk! ;)

In this case, maybe you should change it to the earlier day so that you aren't worring about packing up and checking out of your room, too.

Good Luck! Jennie
