Am I missing something or are Disney having a laugh?

So...looking to go back to DLRP at Easter - and am beginning to price up the various options.

As I'm wanting to get AP's, I'm looking to book the individual components myself - rather do a DLP package.

Anyhow....pricing up the Hotels......

I'd already been to the Holiday Inn website and price up the period (April), and discovered that for two rooms, with breakfast, for 4 nights was going to be around €100 per night, per room - so going to be around £548 in total.

Imagine my suprise when I thought I'd give Disney a call, and discuss Room-Only rates (with Shareholders Discount) at Santa Fe.....

I have to say that I really nearly fell off the chair when the nice lady at the end of the phone quoted just short of £1k for the same period - just for the 'privilege' of staying in a Disney branded hotel....

So - am I missing something, or are Disney just having a laugh.

I have AP, and am paying 128 Euro per night at the Sequoia next week. I think this is an excellent price for bed and breakfast (even though i don't like the breakfast!) at a Disney hotel... I'm sure the two value hotels are even less. I can't imagine they were giving you the room only price - I am quite sure what you were quoted included admissions. They don't always understand the request - I had to be quite adamant on the phone that I had AP's and did not want admission included. On the website it is impossible to get a room only quote, by the way.

Iain, did you phone the shareholders line or Disney CRO ?

I have heard previously that sometimes the room only rate is only marginally cheaper than the pakage price
The Disneyland Hotel tend not to offer any discount for room only.

.

That interesting to know. The pricing I was quoted appears to work out to roughly £116 per night for Santa Fe - given you pricing is in Euro's then that's a big different.

Well I did stress that I wanted Room Only - with Shareholders Discount - but given the pricing that I've been give it does look a tad suspect in comparsion to yours, given your looking to stay are a higher rated hotel.

Hi Reid - I called the Shareholders Line, but once they'd discovered I was Uk based transferred me to the UK booking office.

They claim they understood I was a shareholder and that the price given was correct (ie only B+B).

I'm actually wondering, having seen Jody's reply whether I was being quoted in Euro's. If I take the price quoted and convert it to £'s, it would appear to compare better with the HI pricing -this of course could be wishfull thinking.

I would prefer to stay at a Disney Hotel, purely because I think life would be easier (ie they are all within easier walking distance etc etc).

UPDATE: Tried again - this time didn't get transferred to UK staff, but stay within the French office (I think) - new price £830.72, making £103.84 per night, per room - still feel thats a little step - thats €153 (Euro) per night, per room - especially when compared to Jody's pricing.

Just doing some sums it would appear that the original price I was given DIDN'T have a shareholder discount on it - I've just realised I've been given the same pricing both times - one with the shareholders (830.72) the other without (923).

Ah...I just realised that AP holders potentially get 25% off Room only pricing...that would make a difference! - but even then that doesn't make my pricing compare well to Jody's!.

I think I'll try again.

Yes, the price I have at Sequoia is with the AP discount. Let us know if you make out better when you ask for that.
