Because we are going on the Visa kids free deal we have 'length of stay' UPH's. We have a 7 night package booked. I don't think my kids can last any longer than that. We also have 2 nights on the front end and 3 on the back end tacked on as nonpark days. The first two nights we are HIFS, and it is really just one day. We are driving up and I thought we might need to relax and regain energy for a day before we hit the parks. We plan to eat at Beaches and Cream that day, just to dip a toe in the magic. My worry is the 3 nights (two days) after our 7 park days... we plan to hang out and enjoy AKL one day, but then we move back to HIFS for our last 2 nights... my thought was that HIFS had lots to do and the kids would enjoy it for a day, but I am worried it will be a big let down after AKL. I could book 2 more nights there and it would only cost a little more... but then what if the kids love HIFS and are bummed out that we only have one day there, what if they don't really like AKL (is that possible?)... so now I can't decide which way to go... Oh one other factor was that I thought we might need the space at HIFS after 9 nights in a row in a Disney room, we might be ready to kill each other at that point... so there is another complication. If only money grew on trees... then I could book a second room or an AKL suite and be done with it.

Having stayed at both I think you are safe the way you have. AKL is beautiful but there is way more for the kids to do at HIFS.

I think your original plan looks great. For us, it is always tough to leave WDW and go straight home. Our best experiences were when we tacked more "vacation" on the end of our WDW trip. We'd stop by Grandma's (by the beach) on the way home for a few days after, and that would help us get back to the "real" world a little before heading home.

It sounds like your plan will have the same benefits. I also like the fact that you have an extra day on the front to rest up and ease into your vacation.

I wouldn't change a thing! :D
