Am I going to run over picture takers?

I assume this isn't going to be a huge issue at Wine & Dine, since it'll probably be too dark to take pictures at the mile markers, but does anyone have good advice for avoiding those who are going to stop every mile and take pictures?

If they just stop in front of you there is little you can do other then try to be a little to the left or right of the people in front of you, especially if you can tell they are carrying a camera.

People stopping to take pictures really should know racing etiquette and do it properly which means getting all the way to the side, or preferably off the course, before slowing down or stopping. Stopping or slowing drastically right in front of someone is a great way to get yourself or them hurt.

Or said another way just be sure of your surroundings. Pull over at the mile signs - off the roadway. At charactors do the same. Their handlers will help take a picture. If you see something of interest on teh opposite side of the course - do not shoot across the course at a 90 degree angle. (That seems obvious but I collided with a lady in the half this year who did just that... All I saw was the guy next to me flinch and pull back then a flash. I pushed just trying to keep my balance and she, being of less mass, went down. My thoughts were I am about to be injurred at mile 4 of 39.3 all in the quest of a photo op with a lesser known Disney character)

Note the mile signs at the W&D may be lit. I would take your camera.

I have another funny story in one of the Disney fulls. I saw a guy taking a self portrait at the mile 7 sign. I asked if he wanted me to shoot the phto and gladly did. I handed the camera back as he packed it pack up. He passed me around the half mile point and as I approached the mile 8 sign... there he was. I snapped the photo - he passed later and again at the next mile post. I saw a pattern starting and kind of pushed through the underpass and did not see him at mile 10 but did see him fly by around mile 13 - never seeing him again.

EDIT - Obviously I misread and gave advice to those you are attempting to not run over..

I've been a picture taker in some Disney races and I've been trying to run for a goal time (and only took pictures in MK- couldn't help myself ). I've never had problems either way. The mile markers are pretty far off the course as are the characters. I don't know the Wine and Dine route, but if it goes through MK you can have some trouble getting down the ramp past the Castle because everyone is trying to get the perfect race photo. Unless someone runs right in front of you in an oblivious moment, I don't think the picture taking people will hold you up.

Me too! AND, I will be taking pictures, but I'm small and you can easily run around me.

Why not? They are out in the dark during Marathon Weekend, so why not for this race?

I agree. I think there were characters out during the Tower of Terror run. I only did it the first year so I don't know about the other two years the run was offered. I especially loved the insane asylum characters! Ha! For the Wine & Dine, I'm sure we'll see some type of "cooking" theme among some of the characters. I wonder if any of the characters from Ratatouille will be out there?

I think there will be characters but I suspect the vast majority, if not all, will be in the parks or maybe parking lots as opposed to the street sections.
