Am I going to regret not doing Bomas?

The last two times we visited ( 2001 and 2006) we have had dinner at Bomas and really loved it. We were going to try to get an ADR for this trip, too; but, now we are considering trying out Jikos for dinner and Tusker House for lunch. I was kind of thinking that maybe it would be better for me to give up Bomas this time around and try a restaurant that offers a different cuisine. We are going on the DXDP and have the credits to play around with. What do you think, are three restaurants that offer African cuisine too much for a single trip? Am I going to be sorry I didn't book Bomas?

I hear that TH is very similar to Boma so you will be ok...Jiko is a million times better than Boma ;)

Never been to TH, but been to Boma and Jikos. Loved them both. If I were to pick, I would go for Jiko's because it has outstanding entrees and it's not a buffet. If my husband were to pick he would pick Bomaa because it has a tasting/buffet. I think Boma's is more Africain cusine than Jikos. To me Jiko's in fine dining with an Africian twist.

Please let us know which you pick.

TH and Boma have many of the same dishes -- both are excellent, though I would pick Boma over TH since it seems to offer more choices on the buffet than TH.

Jiko is totally different. I had one of my favorite meals of all time there back in December -- it was this incredible vegetarian dish (I'm not vegetarian, but am drawn to unique sounding dishes).

I don't think you'll miss Boma too much if you do TH instead.

I think it depends on who your feeding. My husband and I went to Jiko's in March and had a very quiet, relaxing and good meal. A week later when all our family got there we took them all to Boma's. I have 2 sons that would have still been hungry if they ate at Jiko's because you can only afford so much. At Boma's they ate and ate and ate. Very happy with both.

Go w/ jiko and don't give boma a 2nd thought. Sicne you've done it twice, def try some new stuff.

Also, if there is something you just HAVE to have from Boma u might be able to snag it at jiko also-
Mainly i'm thinking how i ordered zebra domes at jiko adn got em for dessert no problem. Though you can get those at the Mara (quick service at AKL) also!

Don't worry about missing Boma. The food quality is down this year, as typified by the prime rib being replaced by strip loin most nights. Give something else a try and come back when you really miss it.
