Hi~
Please don't flame me for asking but I received an email from my AAA agent last night and now I don't know what I should do. I had emailed her asking if my reservation was in danger of being reverted back to rake rate since she booked my reservation using the code although I had no postcard, no code attached to my profile and no pin# period. She is a DIS member so she jumped on the boards to read for herself all the talk about Disney revoking the codes of people who shouldn't have gotten them. She had absolutely no idea that there was even a possibility of anyone losing their discounted rates so she called Disney to see what was going on. Her is what she was told

The problem is that when Disney finds out you have no pin associated with the reservation, they will take the discount off. And I said when Disney finds out, because the agent I spoke with just now was extremely adamant in telling me that Disney accounting will eventually catch up with everyone not having a pin. I believe that's what he's been told. Whether or not they actually do catch up is another story.

My agent has become a wonderful friend and is super at what she does. She is genuinely concerned about me and definitely doesn't want me to be stuck paying rack rates so she wanted to know if I wanted to switch to the AAA discount which isn't nearly as good as the code rate but sure beats paying rack rate or take my chances that Disney will leave us and our "fraudulent" code rate alone. The choice is entirely up to me. What should I do? Do you think our rates are safe and Disney's bluffing? I was planning on paying my package in full tomorrow anyway even though the money isn't due until April. Should I just go ahead and pay it and take a chance or should I take the AAA discount? I'm sorry this is so long I just need lots of opinions when playing this game of roulette!! Thanks so much for any and all thoughts.

Has there been an actual case of someone loosing their discount? Or is all this speculation similar to the Henny Penny syndrome we had two years ago when the same thing happened?

just tell us to pay the rack rate? I called and asked if there were any discounts for my time when I set up my reservation like I did on our first trip. I said nothing about a code just if anything was out there for me to save money. I got a discount! I do not know which "code" it was.

I am going to leave it alone and WORST CASE scenario be prepared to pay the difference. Figure I was willing to pay the rack rate when I made the reservation but I do prefer the discount (obviously). If it was meant for me to have it so be it if NOT then I will have to pay to rack rate.

NOW I am worried if they just completely wipe out the reservation but if there policy is to call and say there was a mistake then I am good.

All this is speculation... no noe really knows for sure what will happen.BUT i will say that 2 years ago they didn't track everyone down and force them to pay up, and in 2001 when this same thing happened to me personally ( had booked under a code gotten on the DIS that was intended for residents of certains states only) tons of folks here booked it and we all got to keep it as it was a system glitch that allowed CM's to book the rate whther you were a resident of the right state or not.People panicked and it was a fiasco here on the DIS but we all got to keep it. Since there is precedent that Disney will not revoke it, AND its been over a week now since it came out, AND people are still booking it, i dont think that they really plan to do anything. I think a lot of the hype from DIsney about catching people is intended to get people to cancel. I am keeping my December booking, and wont worry about it unless i hear from them personally.

All we know at this point is that no one (and it even seems like Disney is included in that list) knows what is going to happen.

Some people have been told Disney will honor it, some people have been told it will be honored as long as no changes are made to the reservation and some people are being told the same thing you are, that Disney will be revoking the deals. I am pretty sure, at least on the DIS board, that no one has posted that Disney has revoked their discount as of yet. But I'm not positive about that.

I think most people are pretty sure that Disney will not just cancel your reservation, you will be notified that you have to pay more or cancel, if that is the route Disney decides to take.

One thing you do want to remember is just because you didn't receive a postcard or email doesn't necessarily mean you don't have a PIN associated with your name. Some people have PIN's with their name and never realize it. I'm not saying this is the case with you, but some people have said that was the case with them.

I say go with your gut instinct. Good luck with your decision.

So really, you just have to make your best gut call. I think most people are pretty sure that Disney will not just cancel your reservation, you will be notified that you have to pay more or cancel, if that is the route Disney decides to take.

ITA with all of the above - very well said! :thumbsup2

And, I think it was Sammie who said in an earlier post, these CMs and supervisors that are claiming the ressies will rever to RAC probably don't know any more than we do. That decision is made at a MUCH higher level and I'm sure if they'd decided to do that someone would have been contacted by Disney by now - it's been over a week.

There is also a possibility that your TA booked with the code that is out there for AAA agents. I talked to my AAA TA yesterday and she told me the code that they have available right now. It is NOT one of the three codes listed in the link that everyone is sharing, yet it is still for 40% off rack rate, so you may have gotten that discounted rate in which case, even if they did go back and pull those people without "pin #'s", you wouldn't be affected.

I am going to wait and see. I had already booked what I wanted at rack rate through a TA. When I heard about the "code" I called her and asked if she would try to get it applied. (I figured no harm no foul. All they could do is say no.) It was applied. If it goes back to rack then fine if not fine. My only fear is that they cancel the ressie. I want it. I've paid rack before and am willing to again. That's what I figure I'll pay when I book and if a discount comes along then fine.

This is day 3 for me and still no word.

Nobody here knows the answer to this -- really.. let's wait and see before we all speculate ourselves crazy.

Kelleigh1~
My agent did use the code that was available for AAA agents only. She emailed me the code when she booked my reservation and it's not one of the three that eveyone is sharing. Maybe I'm okay because it doesn't require a pin# correct? This is wonderful news!!! Thanks to kelleigh1 for the AAA info and to everyone else who posted for their help. It's official, I'm taking my chances on my AAA code rate!!! :cheer2:

Thanks again!

I booked yesterday and got the 40% off through a travel agent. It was only a TA code so I think we're okay with it.:thumbsup2

If you're really concerned, pay off your room. But honestly, I can't believe the uproar on this board over these codes.

The language on my reservation clearly states my rate. If I were to make any changes to my reservation, it is no longer guaranteed. But as long as I don't make any changes, that is my guaranteed rate.

Good luck.

I spoke with a very nice CM this morning who assured me, anyone who booked the discount without the code will have their reservation cancelled. Furthermore, because I did not receive the discount, any money that was paid to Disney by people booking without the code would go towards MY reservation. Once my reservation was paid off, any of the extra money would then be put into a safe for me to get upon check in.

I'm so excited!!!:yay:

Actually, they will be in dollar bills all folded up into the shape of Mickey's head and decorated all over your room.

Shall I write a personal check or do you take Discover?

Dont' spend it all at the parks.

I say hold on to what you have. Should Disney revert your ressie to rack rate, guess what? AAA will still be there, right? (or are AAA rooms limited?)

When I called I was told by a CM that all the monies would be going towards my reservation. They didn't mention having to share it with another vacationer! That's it, I'm going to have call again! ;)
