ok........ quick question, I am looking to add on as a suprise for my wife......... thank god she does not read this regularly....., now if I add on at our home resort, but actually the paper work is in my name because I am working this as a suprise, am I going to have problems with paperwork?

:bounce: i am cracking up watching my 18 mo. daughter take a bite of fuzzy of a stuffed "Bear" bean bag chair. come running over and saying, "here ya' go"...........kids.........our legacy......

ok back from my "new dad" moment.

Do you think I am going to have problems?

If your account is in both your names and you are doing less than 150 points then yes you will have a problem. Your wife will need to sign. I actually just asked my guide about that this week.

I am no lawyer, but if you have a will it should not be much of a problem. It would be better to have it in both your names just like the cars and your house, probate can be a (####) if you get my drift.

It would be a 150pt add on, in our same use year, can't you just call MS and have a name added? I thought that was told to us when we initially bought. We could add our children to it, to pass it on.

Yes this is true but it would get a seperate account number. Therefor, you could add her but would need to either keep the reservations seperate or transfer to one account or link ressies. In other words, even though it would be the same use year, it would be two seperate pools of points.

Why not just wrap up the package of paperwork for her to sign as her gift?

I know I'd be thrilled to receive that!

ok............
here's the scoop........

paper work is already on it's way.....

Is it possible to have her added to the paperwork up here by an attorney or notary or just written in?

ya know....... I try to suprise her........and what happens
technical difficulties!

Please sombody have some good news for me.

If the original contract is in both your names and this is an "add-on" like you say, my bet is that when the new contrat arrives, it will have both of your names on it and then you can take Lesley's great advice.

You might want to call your guide and ask that before depending on an answer here. EVen if you can't reach your guide over the weekend you can call 1-800-800-9100 and I'm sure someone can answer your question for you right away.

While you can certainly add others after closing, they won't be on the deed without extra effort and expense. The added names would be in the computer and able to make reservations, but wouldn't automatically be an owner. I'd sure want to make sure it's done correctly initially.

(Sounds like a great surprise!)

Enjoy! :)

The bottom line is it is whatever you told your guide. Add-on paperwork will come identical to the original (I tried doing an add-on without my x's name before the current contract was transfered just to me and it was a no go). . New contracts can be anything.

Good luck
Sandy

P.S. Whatever the paperwork says secures the points for you (in case these were the quick selling BWV points) and you can get new paperwork however you need it. That's what I had to do.

If you manage to buy a totally separate contract just in your name you can add her as an associate member but not as an owner. I also doubt that the contract will be seemlessly linked together as most add ons are. I'd find a way to get her to sign and still preserve the surprise.

ok....."here honey......close your eyes.......sign this........"

and 6 weeks later........suprise!!!!

POINT: this is a resale...... not through DVC

do I now have more problems?

Tom

*wink* or not..LOL you can always just sign her name for her. GASP..it is illegal, I know, but that is the only way you are going to be able to keep it a surprise.

If her name was ommitted form the paper work, can I just hand/type in her name . add it to the paperwork?

t.

As long as you make sure the deed is in her name as well, you should be OK. Anything otherwise, you may not be able to combine it directly with your current contract even if the same use year. And she will never be a true owner on it unless you redo the deed at some point.

ok........, got my paper work...........

things seem ok, simply due to the fact that, it only contains my last name, the rest is to be filled out by me, so it seems I can just type in our names and get the signatures.

"NEW" question: should I have told the broker that I already own and this would be an add on? He didn't ask...... so I figure it would just get adjusted when we contact/inform DVD of the sale..... "God let it pass through......"

I feel more nervous about this than when we bought our house!

DVC will usually do this automatically if it is listed under the same owners and use year. It's in their interest to do so. Just make sure it's listed EXACTLY the same. You should remind them by calling member admin and making sure they know and then reminding the closing agent to note that when they send the notification to DVC that it has closed, they let DVC know as well. Once it's in the DVC system, I don't think they will change it to match them up however.

this is probably very illegal!! but if your marriage is a good one, just start practicing her signature! Try to keep it a surprise!

our marriage is W..o..n..d..e..r..f..u..l..!!

as long as I do exactly what she says..............lol:rolleyes:

much like going to disney or maybe a Copperfield show...you must maintain the illusion............:p

We bought on our honey moon in 98 so I am going to have to check and see if her maiden name was listed or not.

I wonder is i could pay for it on teh new "Disney Visa" and earn some points??!!! It would be nice to be able to earn a little something extra.......hmmmmmmm......

ok..........

I have done a search using "rofr" just to see what i am dealing with. In that search I came across a post that stated if you are buying a resale and are currently an owner (buying an add on), you have to let the broker know because there is a different fee schedule than if you were buying new.

Also....... there was some speculation that Disney tended to gobble up New purchases and let add on's pass through.

alright..... one more...... it was mentioned that you could opt to pay an additional fee and have your resale purchase expidited much quicker......

any truth in these?
thanks
T.
