Am I going to hate ASSports?

POFQ is our favorite resort, that is obviously not an option for this spur of the moment late April trip. The only good rate I could get and afford was for ASSports.

It is just me and my husband, convince me it will be ok.

While we have never stayed at POFQ we have stayed at Caribbean Beach, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, and All Stars Sports.

Granted the Beach Club was the nicest but I didn't really see that much difference between the others. I was real disappointed with the Wilderness Lodge as the room didn't seem any different then the room at All Stars Sports but was $100 more per night.

We also just planned a last minute trip for late March early April. The only place we could get a room was at All Star Movies.

The rooms were clean, the buses take you wherever you want to go and the food court worked great for our then 2 year old.

We plan on having a great time again!!!!

We started out years ago at the Contemporary and then switched to the Caribbean Beach and have been happy there. A few years ago, we tried the All-Star Movies and were disappointed.

The rooms were smaller, but will suffice for two people. One of our biggest complaints was the bus service, which services all three All-Star resorts. We definitely felt we were at the bottom of the transprtation "food chain." The bus stations at the parks are the farthest from the entrances and the buses seemed to be fewer than the other resorts. We waited 45 minutes at Pleasure Island one evening and longer at Epcot. Knowing our way around, we were able to circumnavigate the All-Star bus system and made the best of it.

The All-Stars certainly aren't BAD resorts. They provide more affordable on-site accommodations. Given that, I suppose it isn;t fair to compare them with the other resorts.

Well if you expect to hate it you just might...

I like the All Stars - I prefer Movies, but have stayed in Sports twice.

I will say I disagree that the bus system is bad. True often the bus at Sports also picks up Music and Movies but its not always. And when you stay at a Boardwalk hotel you also pick up Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beach so I don't feel that the relatively closer stops of the three values is any worse than that. Even the GF is the last stop on their circle of buses (so paying the bigger bucks doesn't automatically assume you get great bus service)

Also as far as the bus stop at the parks go -
at MK Sports is the first bus stop to the far right section, there are two other values past it and past that is a moderate.

at Epcot Sports is the first stop in the second section of bus stops (which was formerly the only place buses stopped) and there are many stops on down past it to the right.

at AK Sports is part of the way down the bus stop aisle but not the last stop.

at MGM the values are the last stop.

I can't remember exactly where the bus stops at PI/Marketplace but I will say no matter what hotel I have stayed at I have never had bus service there so I prefer to drive there if at possible.

We were at Sports in Nov. We had a nice time. The rooms are fine for 2 people and Sports is the first picked up when the busses are being shared by all 3 resorts. (That is not always the case.) I would go back there, especially on a trip that was to have a lot of park time. Accepting the All Stars for what they are is the key to enjoying them. It is a nice room , with good transportation for a pretty good price and they are cute. Have a great trip. :D

ASMusic is the only resort I've ever had housekeeping problems at. Last trip, we came back late after a day at the parks and our room had not been touched. Beds not made, no clean towels, trash not emptied - nothing done. This was about 9:30 at night. We were all hot and dirty and wanted to take showers. Took an hour to get clean towels and this was after 3 calls to front desk with corresponding promises that someone would be right there with towels. Finally, I gave up and went and found the linen closet and got my own towels. Now I know this could happen anywhere, but in our case it was ASMusic where it happened. We won't stay at a value resort again. This time we're staying at AKL.

DON'T WORRY!!! Really, you will love the All-Stars. I say this from experience. We had always stayed in moderates, but decided to take an unplanned trip last September and the rate (49/nite) was too good to pass. As the over-planning Disney fanatic of the family, I worried all the way up to arrival that:
1.) the rooms would be too small - they weren't (me, wife, 6 yr old and 3 yr old)
2.) the theme would be cheap - it wasn't - actually the kids liked it more.
3.) food court would be sub-par - it wasn't - it was perfect - just good old American food
4.)bus service would be slow - it was not - Every day, my I would leave my wife and 6 yr old at the park and take our 3 yr old back to the hotel for a nap, then meet them later back at the park - we never waited long at all

In other words - all of our fears were a waste of energy. Too bad September 11 came along on our 3rd day - it was shaping up to be our best Disney trip ever. Now it's just the one we will never forget. A little sad to think about it. By the way, next February we are continuing our trip that was cut short last September - and assuming they have a room, we'll be right back at the All-Star Sports (hopefully Surf's Up Building again)
Hope this helps!!!
