They run a business. So they have expenses, cost, and prfit. But see if you can bargain with the photographer or studio. Do you own a company or have a skill they need and or willing to bargain with for. I know a few photographers, that will bargain for things they need or want for photosessions.
Most photographers or studios don't print their own photos. They use a service and mark it up to make a profit.
Or just flat up ask for how much is is going to take to get the CD where you can print from it. Make sure you get the release. Don't be afraid to ask. They are there to make money. They are in business They have expenses. If you walk away they get nothing, but the deposit. Try to bargain.
If they are not going to bargain. Find a photographer that will for another photoshoot. Go into the deal with the photographer upfront with no intentions of buying the prints, you just want to pay them for the shoot, touch up work, and printable CD.
Simple, you can get it down for about half, and print your own.
Good photographers cost good money to use. They know what they are worth, and what they have to make to make their life and business profitable.
But there are also a bunch of good photographers that are willing to bargain, and still they turn out great work.
