We're going to Disneyworld for the first time at the end of January. That being said we always go to Disneyland in December. I am having major withdrawals since its been 7 months since we went and thinking about having to wait a whole year to see Haunted Mansion decorated. We are thinking of a quick trip next week.

Will it ruin the excitement of DW if we go to DL 6 weeks before?? Are we crazy???

BTW my children have just fell in love with Nightmare Before XMAS and would absolutely love the HM now that they've seen the movie.

Thanks,
Amy

No, you are definitely not crazy.

and if you can financially do it and work the time off, you are very, very lucky as well!

You could even make a game of it by making a point to ride the rides that both parks have so that you can "remember" what is the same or different about it.

For example when riding on Splash mountain you could use a timer to note exactly how long the ride lasts at Disneyland. Then you could note how you are seated in the log, etc. If you choose to "compare" in this way to WDW you will find some differences.

Also, if for some reason lines are long at the Magic Kingdom when you go, you may feel placated by the fact that you just experienced something at Disneyland.

I think your kids would really get a kick out of seeing HM all dressed up for the holidays -- especially since they can appreciate the characters more now.

If you can, I say go for it!!!!

Absolutely not crazy. I agree that part of the fun of having visited both DL and WDW is noticing the differences.

I would definitely go!! I have heard several 'rumors' that this may be the last year for the Nightmare overlay for HM. I have a hard time believing that they wouldn't have it in 2005, since it's the 50th year, but you never know!!

Thank you everyone for the replies! I will be making the reservations as we speak. I'm going to Disneyland but shhh its a secret our families would think we're nuts- they just don't get it! Only us Disney freaks truly understand DL withdrawals.

I'm going to Disneyland:tongue:

Thanks,
Amy

I wouldn't worry about HMH going away. What was rumored to go away was the merchandise event for HMH.
