I've been playing with dates for 2014. For some reason I thought the price of the entire stay was determined by check in date. Is this incorrect?

No room rates are different for each night just like any regular hotel. The promotions/discounts are based on the night you check in.

Offers such as Free Dining are based on check in date so as long as you check in by the last day of the offer it is valid for the length of your stay. Room rates used to be less variable, but now they are night by night with weekend nights more expensive than week days

It used to be that way. So, you may be thinking of how it worked on prior trips. Now each night could be a different price depending on when you go.
