Am I crazy?

This is my first post so I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong place, but I am going to Disneyland the last week in May. I am a single mom so it will just be me and my 10 yo son and 4 yo daughter. My mom says I am crazy to go by myself. We are staying PPH I hoping that because it is closer that will help. Should I invite my 13yo niece? Can't really afford another adult ticket but I am thinking I may have to bring someone. What is the weather like the end of May? We will be at the parks from Wednesday to Friday so I hope that helps with the crowds. Any advice would be appreciated!

Your daughter only being four will limit the things you and your son will be able to enjoy. For example: if she is too short to ride on Radiator Springs Racers or big thunder mountain. Having someone older will allow you to enjoy those rides and utilize the rider switch pass. If paying for your niece is difficult, consider inviting a family friend. They may be willing to pay for part.

I would measure her so that you will have a pretty good idea on what rides you can ride. 40 inches tall gets you on the majority of the rides in both parks.

I take my girls by myself all of the time. Everyone is over 40" tall and likes most of the rides. I make sure that I have a plan and reservations in advance.

I hate to tell you, but if you take your 13 year old niece you will be paying for an adult ticket. Tickets are for 9 and under and 10 and up.

I've seen parents alone with kids in the parks, and I think it can be done with some common sense and planning. Listen to the kids cues and don't try to cram in everything if they're tired. The worst thing I ever saw was a mom alone with her 3 boys dragging a screaming and crying kid of about 6 on Pirates at about 9 at night. He was obviously done, but she was going to get her money's worth out of the trip whether they liked it or not.

thanks, part of the reason we got a three day park hopper is so we don't have to rush and do it all in two days. She is 41 inches so we should be good for most rides.

The adult ticket is why I don't want to take my niece, I had to get an adult ticket for my son and that hurt!

Thanks for all the advice.

You should totally enjoy this special time with your kids, just roll with it and watch the magic through their eyes. Everything will be good. Let them dress up or get cheap tee shirts with their favorite characters and try to find them to get a pic. Pin trading is always fun for the little ones, you can get some on ebay for good prices. We also are going the end of May, I think the weather is usually fairly nice, not to hot not to cold.

If you're crazy, I'm insane! I took a five month old baby and three year old on my own, cross country , five days DLR, one week on the Wonder. It was so amazing! Honestly the best memory I could have ever made with them!

What is pin trading?

Disneyland sells thousands of pins (like this: http://www.disneystore.com/collectibles/pins/mn/1000211/ ), and some people trade them. Not everyone does though--we buy them because we like them, and don't trade, just wear them. Cast members will also wear lanyards with pins, and kids (and adults) can trade pins with them. One caveat: Teal lanyards are for kids trading pins only--the cast members wearing teal lanyards do not trade with adults. You can buy "trading sets" with pins to keep and duplicates to trade. Some people think it's great fun. My daughter doesn't want to trade them at all--"They're all mine!"

Great advice!!!
I totally second that this IS do-able! You are NOT crazy!!

If you go with a general plan, a good attitude, take your time, relax and just enjoy all there is to offer, you AND you children will have a wonderful time.

I don't think you need to feel pressured to bring along another adult--you can do this on your own and be just fine!!:)
