So my mother and I are going for 2.5 days to the world! This is what our schedule is looking like... are we crazy for this? We'll be going at the end of January....

Arrive late Thursday night.... (counter service at Pop??)

Friday - MK... be there at rope drop, lunch CS... Pecos Bills?? At 4:15, take bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for 4:55p dinner at Boma. After dinner, head back to MK via bus for 8p wishes.

Saturday - Epcot, rope drop. See FW... lunch at Le Cellier at 11:40a. See WS. At 6:45 take monorail to Poly for 7:35 dinner at 'Ohana. Return to Epcot via monorail for 9p Illuminations (is this ok? cutting it too close??)

Sunday - Downtown Disney at 9am. Shop, eat 11:00a lunch at Cookes of Dublin. Head to the airport at noon.

I wanted some spectacular dining places, but not take TOO much time out of the parks... at least, still be able to see the park highlights. I think in January this might be possible. I know how to tour with minimum waits... Is this too crazy with going out of park for dinners and returning for close?

Thanks!!

I think the EPCOT night you are cutting way to close.

Be careful with a L'Cellier lunch we did lunch once and were too stuffed for dinner. Anyway can u substitute Ohana for the night you are at the MK..I think that would make more sense

as far as mk to ak as a disney veteran I am sure you know that disney bus transportation is not always reliable. that being said I might consider taking a cab one way from ak to mk or vice versa...even better take a cab to the contemporary and walk over to the mk.

Personally on your MK day I wouldn't go all the way to AKL and Boma. That is at opposite ends of the property. That will take a HUGE chunk of your time. There are so many wonderful places that are much closer.

Next, your dinner at Ohana, you won't be done and back to Epcot to see Illuminations (even though I do think it is 9:30pm).
Ohana dinners last at LEAST 1 1/2 hours. So if your adr is at 7:30ish, you won't even be checked out until 9:15ish. Then the monorail, walk to find a spot....that will be way over start time of the show.

Personally I would do Ohana on MK night. That wouldn't be to far from the park. And pick a wonderful restaurant at Epcot and stay in the park.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip.

Hmm...... We will have a car.... but I thought it might be faster to take the bus to AKL rather than drive (avoiding the monorail ride to the parking lot). I'll be checking for an earlier 'Ohana between now and then.... I know 7:35 might be tough (if we STILL can't get an earlier ADR, then we might just show up earlier... I've had pretty good luck getting in early to places, though not always).

These are the top 3 restaurants that we'd like to see... just wondering if it is possible!!

I have to agree with Nadjalu's advice.

Do Ohana on the MK day.

On the Epcot day, eat dinner in the park.

The fact that it is late January will definitely help you with fitting in lots of attractions in those two days, but it won't make Disney buses arrive sooner, move AKL closer to MK, or speed up a meal. :sad2:

I'll seriously consider moving 'Ohana to MK... but she really wants to do Boma, so not sure what I'm going to do.... <sigh>

Thanks for the help!

Yes. ;)

Trust me....it all looks good on paper....been there done that. It doesn't always work out the way you planned. Guess that makes me crazy as well!:thumbsup2

The others gave you some great advice.

Ohana.. nope, won't make it back in time for Illuminations.
Mk alllll the way out to AKL and back.... just losing a big chunk of time there.

Now, if left MK and ate at one of the nearby resorts... totally doable! Eat at Grand Floridian, or even take the boat to WL and eat at WCC, or if could get Ohana that night would be great. But somewhere you could jump on monorail or boat out of MK... we actually like doing that on our MK day, a little quick dinner break out of the park, an easy in and out!

For your Epcot day - I'd say either try dining in Epcot - or what we've done before and enjoyed, just a quick walk out the international gateway over to Cape May Cafe for dinner, and an easy in back into Epcot! I'd highly recommend doing that!

I think you're nuts for leaving a park for a meal then coming back to the same park, especially for a short trip. You'll waste too much time in transit.

Cheers!

Max

Thanks everyone! I've moved our 'Ohana to 8:30pm, and we just won't return for the fireworks. That gives us a bit more time in the park, and more snacks we can eat between lunch and dinner! LOL

Ok, revised again!! Taking all your suggestions, we now will be doing:

Mk - lunch in the park, CS, dinner at 5:15 'ohana, return to park for 8pm wishes.

Epcot - lunch at Le Celier 11:40, afternoon snacks, leave park for about 7:15p for 8:10 Boma (will be driving), do not return for fireworks.

Does this sound better?

Thank you all!!

Sounds alot better.

However when are you going again. If Illuminations has the holiday extension on it I would skip Boma this trip or maybe do it for breakfast on your departure day. and make an evening dinner at world showcase or at one of the restaurants at the beach club/yacht or boardwalk (its a 10 minute walk)

also double check the hours for downtown disney I think most days it opens at 9:30 not 9 am..I would make a 8 am boma reservation on your departure day and then head over to downtown disney.

How late are you arriving Thursday night? Just thinking a possible late ADR at Boma that night?? just a thought..:confused3

Mom's not much of a breakfast person, so no breakfast at Boma (though I'd love to try it!)

Sadly, our flight lands Thursday night at Sanford at 8:30pm. By the time we pick up our rental car and get over to Pop to checkin, I can't imagine it being earlier than 9:30 at the earliest... too late to go over to Boma for dinner...

Ha! I think planning a short trip might be harder than planning a week long trip!!
