Hello Everyone!

Here is my situation:

My husband and I have a daughter who is 21 months old. We just found out that we are pregnant with twins (OMG). We are doing a kitchen renovation. When the floors are done (HW) we will need to be out of the house for about 4 days. I'm thinking we might as well go away rather than spending the money to stay in a hotel here. That said, staying in a hotel here vs a Disney trip, well suffice to say there is an obvious price gap. ANYWHOO, I will be 20 weeks preggers at the time we are thinking of going (end of April/start of May). I am thinking of inviting the mil & fil. Part of me says, this will be our only family vacation before EVERYTHING changes, we won't make it back for years, my husbands parents are getting up there in age, my hormones really want CG, etc. Then there is the rational part of me.....your thoughts?? Am I nuts??

I think it's a fabulous idea - you should definitely try to make it work! Good luck and congratulations!!!! :goodvibes

I say if you can afford it and can make it work, GO for it! Life is too short!:cheer2:

My sister was in a similar situation about a year and half ago. Son was 3, pregnant (about 26 weeks along), and they had to move out of one place on military post, because it was condemned, to another place on post that was not ready.... so everything they owned would be in storage and they would be in a hotel for at least 3 weeks. They opted instead to travel around visiting family and a 4-day Disney cruise. She and BIL say it was the best thing they could have done!
So no you are not crazy, you are finding a way to preserve your sanity :thumbsup2

girl, if you can afford it, DO IT! life with 3 small children is going to be so hectic, and who knows what will happen with your IL's health by the time y'all are ready to travel with the twins to wdw. as a PP said, life is short! have a great time!

I say go too! At 20 weeks along you should still feel well enough to walk around etc. I found when I was pregnant with my twins the last 8 weeks were so hard to move around- I just felt too uncomfortable- I did not even get the groceries the last month before they were born (they were born at 35 weeks). So go and enjoy! And TWINS are great!!!! Ours are 7 years old now......time just flew by.

My house is being renovated right now. I'm being driven crazy by the noise, and the upheaval of our lives. I think if I were pregnant, I would have killed someone by now. :lmao:The only thing that's saving my sanity is our upcoming WDW trip in a few days and the Med cruise in 2 months. :goodvibes Definitely do it!!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Why WOULDN'T you go? With all of the extra helpers, you can take it as easy as you need to. Enjoy it!!

I say do it! It will be so much nicer than being stuck in a hotel near home.
I traveled both times I was pg, and it was lovely. Obviously, you're going to have to plan lots of rest, so forget doing WDW commando style. With helpers there, you can sleep in the mornings and let family take your DD to the parks or pool. You might even get more rest than if you stayed near home.

Do take some precautions, though. Get travel insurance or some other back-up plan in case there is a medical reason you can't go. Also, bring your medical records with you in case you have to see a dr while you're there, and find out from your insurance company what their procedures are for seeing a dr in another state.

Who supervises the workers in your home while you are gone? Just curious :confused3

I think it sounds just about perfect as long as you:

get permission from your doctor

have trip insurance that will cover any cancellation for medical reasons

plan on a restful (non-commando) trip

If this trip fits in your family budget, then go for it!

I'd be worried about booking dates (and planning with your in-laws) and then the hw floors go in later than they anticipated. Doesn't EVERY reno go over the alotted time???

But if you can be flexible and your doctor says yes (check though, my ob didn't want me flying at 20 wks with a high risk pg) I hope you can go and have a great time.

PS. Congratulations!!!

I agree to go. As another twin mom here I say that is a good time you won't be too uncomfortable and once the twins are born it won't be so easy to plan things until they are a little older so it will be a nice to spend some one on one time with your daughter before they arrive.
Congrats by the way having twins are awesome:cheer2::love:
Just remind yourself for the first year (or so)that this is just a stage and it too will pass:rotfl:

Thank you for your thoughts everyone! Trip insurance is an excellent suggestion. I'm so used to 'opting out' of it but this time, I believe you're all quite right. We have a fantastic contractor who will be overseeing the hw guys and our neighbor will be making sure all is locked up and what not each night. That said, timing is a BIG part of this trip both for the workers and the babies. Thank you to the twin Moms for your opinions - with my previous preg I felt great at 5 months but know this time could be very different.

Must go find the money tree that our real estate agent assures me is in our backyard somewhere!

:rotfl:
