Am I crazy?

We are thinking of renting a car and drving from either LAX or ONT to DLR and then taking a a day to go down to San Diego. Worried about driving in LA and traffic going to and from the airports. Is getting tot he airports for 6:30am flights real difficult?

So long as you do like the airlines ask and arrive 2 hours before your flight, you'll be just fine. Not that much traffic out there at 3:30 am (the time you'll need to be leaving to get there at 4:30).

We just arrived home last night from our trip, we rented a car and flew in/out of LAX with no problems. Made two day trips to San Diego. Would I ever fly to LAX again with 3 kids and 7 bags??? Um...no it will be John Wayne next time for us (which is where we usually fly to/from). Keep in mind that the rental places are offsite and you get shuttled to/from them.

We (me and co-worker flew Mon into LAX touched down at 9:40 were in rental (National) and at DL before 11:00 .

Now we were just in El Sugundo but we had 8:45 flight out left hotel at 6:15 thinking half hour travel and rental dropoff giving us 2 hrs to get a bite to eat and check-in (SWA ) well we hit the Gate at 7:00 couldn't believe it no lines anywhere.

I have flown into and out of LAX so many times and just couldn't believe it.Thank GOD LAX doesn't have a Disney store or I would have gotten some more Guilt shopping in.

We've flown into LAX the last 2 trips. We normally leave 3-31/2 hours before flight, giving us an hour to an hour and a half to drive to LAX from anaheim and drop off rental car. Both times we made it to the airport well within the 2 hour window before flight. We usually have dinner at the airport while we wait to depart. We have 2 kids (4 and 7)and have never minded flying into LAX, probably since we've never flown to any other surrounding airports though.
