Am I crazy to take a 2 y.o. without a stroller?

OK - you've convinced me - so I guess the real decision is take our own vs. renting. I have a nice lightweight Combi, so maybe I will just take that to save the $.

The disney strollers are very different from normal ones with how they don't have regular stroller seats. They don't make them feel locked in and they can easily jump out and walk if they want to. I suppose if you decide he doesn't need the stroller you could leave it in a "stroller parking lot" and come back for it later (is that allowed?). Always consider renting a double, that's what my DD 3 1/2(now) liked last year. That way there's a lot of room for them to stretch out there legs. We're not sure if she'll be able to walk this Feb, so we're going to see how she does the first day and go from there. My older kids started walking at that age, but that was before they raised the stroller weight limit!

If you don't want to lug one through the airport, rent one at the parks. An almost 3 year old would be fine in a Disney rental. But, you should have some type of stroller. Walking Disney is NOT the same as going to the Zoo. It's far larger and you go day after day. It's exhausting. he will need it.

Not to mention, if there are super large crowds, I much prefer my kids be in the stroller rather than walking around.

you should take a stroller or at least rent one for sure. We just went in December and I bought a double stroller for my 16 month old DD and my 4 year old DS. I was worried that I was throwing money away by buying a double, and that my son might not use it. Boy was I wrong, he used it ALOT. Disneyworld is huge, there is ALOT of walking, especially for little legs. He would hop right in and ride from land to land, and hop out whenever he wanted to walk or get on a ride. Plus it is a very long walk at the end of the day from the exit of the park to the disney bus, so we were very glad we had our own, since you're not allowed to take the rentals out of the park. A stroller is a must. My DS just turned 4 a few weeks ago. We will be making our 2nd trip to WDW with him and wouldn't dream about not taking our stroller with us. At 4 he still likes sitting in it. Plus I know there will be times he will NOT want to walk and will need a place to sit. I agree with everyone else who has said that if they could ride in a stroller they would. I know I sure as heck would.

When our DS was about a little over a year old, I gave up on our bulky stroller and bought a Maclaren. It will be hard for me to every buy another brand of stroller again. It's a light-weight titanium umbrella stroller that is fabulous. It's expensive - about $130, but IMHO worth every penny. It will be going with us in April.

I also like the idea of a stroller in the crowds. I strap them in and go. I dont have to worry as much about them getting separarted or even getting overwhlemed by all the grownups and crowds trying to push their way thru. Even if you go at a slow time there will still be crowds at different spots along the way

I took 2 Maclaren Volo strollers for my children for our last trip -- they were 5.5 and 3 weeks short of 3. I am so glad I did. Most evenings they were wiped out before we left the parks. If I had rented strollers, I would have had to given those up at the gates and CARRY them to the busses where they almost every night fell asleep. They would then have to have been CARRIED from the bus stop at POP to our room -- a good distance and we were in preferred building. I would have needed a wheelchair after a few days of that - my son weighed about 50 lbs at the time and my dd 40. Maybe if your child doesn't weigh much that wouldn't be an issue but I do good to carry myself after a day at Disney.

I would take one or rent one. I wouldn't even try to go a whole day in the parks without one.
We saw lots of kids in strollers that you normally wouldn't see. If your son doesn't like the stroller at home he may like the Disney strollers. They seem to be made for "big kids". They are big hard plastic buckets and don't have a 5 point harness. Kids just hop in and out. Everybody has them so he may be happy to be like the other kids.

I just asked my husband your question, and he said "Is she insane?"

Atleast I got a good laugh. Seriously, though, my son is 6 and we are bringing a double for him and his 4 year old sister! I wore a pedometer out last trip, and we clocked a good 8-10 miles a day.
