Am I crazy to be thinking this far in advance?

We got back last week from our first family WDW trip. We will not be going back for another 3 years, when our kids will be 4 and 6. However I can't help but think about how that trip will go!

Am I crazy for planning or thinking about this so far in advance? Will I just drive myself nuts?

I keep thinking about which type of resort to stay at (will we try a mod or deluxe this time?), how the Disney dining plan will be in 3 years from now, how many days our ticket should be, if we should join AAA and book through them, which restaurants we may want to try (yes the food is important to us!), how our touring will go with kids 3 years older than they are now, will we rent the double stroller through A Baby's Best Friend again or at the parks, etc. These are just some of the things that go through my head. In addition, I have every intention of staying on these boards in the mean time to keep gathering info, help others, and just stay part of the magic (sounds corny, I know it is).

Then I wonder if this feeling of excitement will pass soon and fade away, and if I will become a ghost on these boards and not be back for a long time. I don't know. Anyone experience something remotely similar to this?

Don't worry you're not nuts. You've become a Disney fan!! Welcome to the club. I pretty much live life by planning from one trip to the next. Probably with in a week of getting home I'm thinking about when we will go next. Since we joined DVC we go about every 18 months. I to start thinking about what we will want to do, where to eat, while it's still fresh in my mind from what we didn't get to do on the last trip.

I check the disboars almost daily to find new info and just to get a little bit of the magic to tie me over till the next trip. We are going this year with our 4 and 6 year olds, plus our 1 and 2 year old. It'll be our first trip with all 4 kids so that should make life interesting.

Stay in touch with your dis buddies and let us know how the planning is going and if you think of something you need an answer to this is the place :earsboy:

:lmao: You have now joined the club. I think everyone here will relate. I think almost all of us are a little obsessed or why else would we be here all the time.

My DH and kids went for the first time last year and LOVED it. Got home and DH said book it for this year. Now we are going back but DH wishes I would quit talking about it. ;) I have planned, replanned, and thought about changing the replan already :rotfl:

Start a simple plan now and work on it slowly since you have plenty of time. Have fun and don't drive your family nuts with it like I do. LOL

Everyone who enjoys Disney thinks about their next vacation but don't drive yourself nuts planning it if it is 3 years away! So many things will change between now & then - Enjoy thinking about what you want to do!

Thanks so much, you guys are all awesome!

Okay I don't feel like I am nuts anymore! I guess I'm just a person who enjoys going on vacation!

I will take my time and enjoy the planning. Even though it is not possible to plan exactly what we will be doing, because things will change between now and then, it is so nice to think about it and wonder what things we will get to see! I am also wondering if they will add or take away any of the restaurants between now and then. I am sure there will be at least some changes! When I told DH about the change to a non-character meal at LTT for dinner this coming January, he was happy that we got to do it when the characters were still there because the kids love them!

Next time we go the boys will be 4 and 6. Perhaps I could convince DH to go the year before, but I don't think so. He is pretty adamant about waiting 3 years and he is pretty stubborn...oh well! As he calls himself a "stubborn Taurus"!

how did you enjoy the POP? We are staying there for the first time this year. Last year we stayed at the All Star Sports.

We loved the Pop and would definitely stay there again! We thought about staying at Contemporary next time to be on the monorail line, but I would definitely rather stay much longer and stay at POP!

How was All Star Sports? I considered the All Stars for our trip, but when I found out you could see some fireworks from the 50s section of POP, I went for it! And we got the 50s section, room 3232. It was the third building on the 2nd floor. Could have gotten the 4th floor but the room was not ready (it was 10:45AM), so we opted to be able to have access to the room right away on a lower floor. The fireworks were beautiful and DS3 enjoyed watching them every night in his PJs! Best part of it was that we did not have to drag 2 tired little kids back to the hotel afterwards! I am aware that we did not see much of it compared to being at Epcot, but it was magical for all of us!

Sounds great about watching the fireworks from your room. We enjoyed the Sports. My DS loved the themeing. We ended up in the basketball section which we really liked. They had ones a little closer but there was always a lot of foot traffic. We were close to everything but not so close as to having people walk past all night or to have pool noise. Also on bottom floor which was nice with our little one. The only complaint is that you share a bus with another All Star hotel. Makes for long lines after fireworks. :wizard: This was our first stay at a value so I really don't have anything to compare it to but we liked it. Chose the Pop because of the whole not sharing buses thing and of course frozen cokes.

You must have the patience of a saint. If you last 3 years on these boards planning, kudos! I have to block WDW out after I return otherwise I go a little cuckoo. This last time I got the fever back with around two months to go, I'm down to 24 days (phew!!!!). It will go quickly and I'm planning for next year plus putting together a web site to pass the time.

totally normal. for us DISers anyhow! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

i always get depressed after a trip and i lose touch with all things disney after i am done with my trip report and pics. then i sort of ban disney for a while, because i miss it so much and just can't stand to know i won't be going back for a long time. then i slowly buiild back up to plan another trip like now.

we are already planning for our dec 09 trip, which is a year and 4 months away. we already have our package, resort and some restauarnts picked out and have a family disney meeting sunday to discuss and finalize our dates (picking between 2 different weeks) and talk about other details. we are a little planning obsessed. but it is part of the fun. my sister and publish a monthly family disney newsletter with trip tips, facts, trivia, pictures and other fun stuff just to keep the excitement going until dec 09. yeah, we are crazy.

i say it is never too early to plan!
