Am I crazy or just optimistic?

I'm planning on taking advantage of both the morning and evening EMH in order to have a nice 4-5 hour break every day back in the hotel. I have a park hopper pass so I was planning on doing a morning EMH at one park, taking a long break, and then a PS dinner at the park with the evening EMH. Will this work or am I just kidding myself? I really don't like parades and I'm not a big fan of brutally hot sun beating down on me from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm :sunny: . This is my first and maybe only visit to WDW and I want to take advantage of every aspect! :goodvibes Thanks for the input!

My opinion....especially during the Summer, avoid any park with an EMH anything on that day. The crowds are nasty on those days. You are going to do more and see more in the mornings and days at a park without an EMH and especially at a park that had an EMH the night before.

It does totally depend on the time of year. This is exactly what DW & I did on our trip 5/18 thru 5/22 and it really worked out great. We were back at POFQ everyday between 11AM and 1PM and then hopped to the EMH evening park between 3PM and 5PM.

Thanks for your comments. I'll be in the parks 7/3 through 7/8. It's going to be crazy anyway, so I thought my plan would give me a leg up on the crowds. Do you think it will work for this very busy week? MGM has an EMEH on 7/3 which would make it the 'ideal' park for 7/4 but I thought AK would be a better choice that day. Anyway, here are my plans:

7/3 - MK in AM (regular hours), lunch at CP, then dinner at Sci-Fi in MGM and 10:30 Phantasmic! show (EMEH).
7/4 - AK (regular hours) and maybe to go PBR for fireworks
7/5 - MGM (EMMH) to see rides that we missed on 7/3, then dinner @ Jikos
7/6 - MK (EMMH) to see what we missed on 7/3, lunch at CRT 2:00 pm
7/7 - EP (EHEH). I plan to do this park in AM and return in the evening. Dinner @ Marrekesh and Illuminations after.
7/8 - 11:00 am at Chef Mickeys. This is our 'sleep in' day and catch up whatever we missed during the week. Kids to Kids' club and DH and I to Citricos for dinner! Maybe catch the EMEH at MK after?
My children are 10 and 6. This will be their first amusement park experience and I don't want to wear them out too much or stand in line for too long. I do plan on taking advantage of FASTPASS and have read the touring plans in UG.
Sorry this is so long but I really want things to go well but if this is just a crazy plan I could benefit from someone's expertise! :)

Are there many days where there's a morning emh at one park and an evening one at another?

My family would find it VERY difficult to get up early and stay up so late day after day. The evening EMH during this busy week will be very late.

I would do EMH at MK only and would avoid the EMH the rest of the week. The regular park hours should be long enough to allow for a nice long midday break. Have fun!

Cannot wait 4disney, go to the disneyworld website and click on Calendars. Then click on the Extra Magic Hours link for the days in June and you will see what the EMMH and EMEHs are for June through August. Technically, with a parkhopper pass, you can parkhop from an EMMH park to an EMEH park. sk!mom, I thought about being tired and the only day we are doing the EMMH and EMEH together is Sunday and my reasoning was so we could see the later, less crowded Phantasmic! show at MGM. I'm planning on having my family take a nap during the afternoon. Would we be better off doing Phantasmic! another night? That being said, do you think I should forgo the EMMH at MGM on 7/5 and only go to the EMMH at MK on 7/6? THanks for the input!

Am I crazy because of my plan or because I'm obsessing so much!? Or maybe both? I admit, I've had Disney on the brain since booking this trip back in March! :)

Im not sure yet :teeth:

Jenny,

My best advice (from someone who has been to WDW 25+ times) is to not try to do everything. I don't know why you think you won't ever go back (unless you really don't want to, or you are extremely ill and may not have much time left and if the latter is the case I'm terribly sorry :( ) but at any rate...assuming you are in good health and you want to go back, WDW will be there for you and it will be there for a loooong time. You'll be able to get back someday if you really want to.

I am only stressing this because soooo many people go and don't enjoy it as much as they could have because they spend so much time checking things off a map attractions list that they miss the beauty and joy of where they are.

Your plan sounds doable if your party is going to be able to get up very early and stay up very late in the FL summer heat. My party is able to (we're 2 adults, no kids) and we have found we get a lot out of the morning EMH. The late night EMH is okay but often the rides are so crowded that there are not fast passes left. But this truly depends on when you go and what the weather is like etc. The morning EMH is great though. We've never had a problem with crowds, even in the summer.

Learn all you can about Fast pass before you go. Fast pass will save you a lot of time waiting in lines. We use them whevever possible.

You are going to miss things. You'd have to be going for 30 nights to see it all. And even then you'd probably miss things. WDW is huge. I know you say you don't like parades but these are not your average parades. These are more like moving stage shows that just happen to walk down the street. You may find yourself drawn into them.

Take your time to enjoy what you get to. Make a list of the things your party has on it's absolute list and focus on that stuff but if you should happen to get sidetracked by a performer putting on an impromtu show, or a Mickey bar while you watch the ducks swim in the water near the castle, don't worry about it. You can always return.

Have a great trip.

Sheri

Think of Disney like a Buffet. You don't have to have a serving of everything. Just pick what you like!
Really there is too much to experience to even try to do most of it.

Is there anyone who can post the link to Unofficial Guide's Best parks for each date?

Thanks for your post, Sheri. And I appreciate your concern, but I am in good health! I should never say never again when it comes to Disney, I suppose :) Anyway, I'm glad to hear your positive review about the EMMH. I'm glad to know you didn't fnd the parks to be any more crowded on those days. I'll heed the advice of all who responded to my question and just take it easy. I do have a list of our 'must sees' and if that is ALL we see, then so be it! There is even some leeway in our 'must see' list. Sunday is my craziest day so maybe I'll change that schedule around a bit. Either way, I CANNOT WAIT! I'm more excited than anyone in my family!

I would also suggest not doing EMH every morning-that will tire the kids out. I agree with taking a break in the middle-we always do that and it really helps to rest by the pool or take a nap in the airconditioned room!
Have a great trip-and dont worry, you wont see everything but you will have a blast!!!

The only unbearable crowds we found were at MGM during Star Wars Weekend. We went on what I think was the first weekend. And that died down after the SWW events. RnRC & ToT were crowded during evening EMH, but they always are, EMH or not. Also, Soarin' at Epcot was still crowded during evening EMH but nothing else really was. We walked on Mission Space 3 times and Test Track had minimal waits.

You're going to have a great time. :)
