Am I crazy for tent camping in aug.

For others reading this thread - FYI, it does not cool off in Orlando at night. It is still hot and humid, but you do get the added bonus of mosquitoes. :goodvibes

Carry on.

I just wanted to reiterate this. IT DOES NOT COOL DOWN AT NIGHT IN CENTRAL FLORIDA!!

I've visited relatives who live up north (North Carolina:rotfl:) who didn't have a/c and thought I was going to have to get a hotel room for the night because i knew I wouldn't be able to sleep in the heat. To my surprise it actually cooled off after the sun went down!

This doesn't happen in Fl. Fl is SUBTROPICAL not southern, you can't compare it to any other state. They are just not the same. You can grow orchids in your yard year round in Orlando. OK?

Tent camp if you want, you may even convince yourself you had a great time, but that will just prove you're crazy! Good luck.

Its now August

I live in a similar climate as orlando

Today we've had 3 shower bursts follwed by clear skies and sun-you can NOT imagine the Humidity after those showers!!!!

I'd find a cheaper alternative-even if it means having to cut a couple days from your stay

but you see that is MY point. Try to give the op the benefit of the doubt before you give a blunt answer...and ask questions when in doubt...that is really all I want to convey because it does hurt people when you assume something that is not necessarily true from just one post...if everyone would try to give the benefit of the doubt them most of the time threads wouldn't get so full of drama and nastiness....;)

You said your husband has agreed to this, and I appreciate that you have told him. But the more I read, the more I think my original response was correct. Now, if you had done this before and feel perfectly comfortable in doing it again, I would say go for it, but you haven't.

I don't see drama and nastiness in this thread, all I see is people who know better trying to answer your question and you aren't listening.

I still hope that you have a good time and the weather is unseasonably cool for you.

I haven't read any of the other posts -

but we tent camped last July..it was hot - but we took fans = we had one on dh & me & 1 on the oldest kids...and 1 for the food tent. WE were only there for b'fast & sleeping & sleeping wasn't til wee hours of morning...it was fine.

It did rain daily on us - so be prepared to make sure EVERYTHING is closed up when you leave for the day - don't leave any clothes on the line to dry or anything.

BUT if you're not used to FL heat/humidty then I'd say no. (I grew up in FL)

You can always take washclothes, towels, pillowcases & throw them in your cooler when you're gone to the parks all day & come back & lay on those to sleep to cool yourself off....makes a HUGE difference.
