We are going to WL at the end of May. My oldest will be almost 3 (July) and my youngest will be 6 months old.....

Please share you positive experiences taking a child this young... I need to know it's possible....

To be honest I think my 6 month old is going to be easier than his brother....:)

You will be fine with a 6 month old. My daughter took her 4month old and they had a great time. Each park has a baby center, you can change the baby on nice change tables ,warm up bottles rock baby in a rocking chair. They also have a place to nurse the nicest is at the MK. The have a childs toilet for the 3 year old and a play area. A great place to take a break. We also took a 3year old and 8 year old. We just held the baby on the rides we didn't do the wild ones she loved it and the characters made a big fuss over her. Hope you have a great trip. She also used a Baby Borne carrier which she used a lot in the parks.

We took our little guy quite a few places at that age and never had any trouble. I was breastfeeding, though, so it was really easy. No worrying about warming up bottles, carrying around formula, etc. If you're nursing - just find a nice bench someplace and you're set. You don't need to worry about hiking back to the Baby Care Centers.

You can use the Baby Swap to ride some of the bigger rides if you want. Also, I would suggest taking something like a sling, since you can't take the stroller into the lines, etc. I like a sling much better than a front carrier.

And, of course, you will need to be really careful of the sun, since I don't think you are suppossed to put sunscreen on a baby that young - but I could be wrong.

And, you're right - the 6 month old probably will be easier! Have a great time!

I'm not nursing so I will have the whole formula problem to deal with but I am ok with that.... I am so glad they have those baby stations...

We are staying on site and plan on doing the parks from 8-1pm and going back to the resort to relax...then maybe go back in the evening. So I think this will help tremendously! Not to mention my mom and sister will be with us so they can help out too!!

I guess I am just a little nervous....

Sounds like you have a great plan! Have fun!!

especially with extra adults. I took DS at 5 and 8 months. I'm sure both will have been much easier than our April trip when he is 3.5. Have a great time!

Hi~don't be nervous. We just took our 6-month old twins to Disney in November. They did fine and we did fine. The hardest part is packing ALL that stuff. We were so impressed with those baby care centers to change diapers, especially at MK. We used our baby bjorn carriers to take the babies on rides. Otherwise, we used our double stroller the entire time and the babies also napped in the stroller when they got tired. I don't have other children, so I can't compare to a 3 year old, but I can truthfully tell you the babies were easy at 6 months -- well, not "easy" because of the constant feedings and diaper changes, but it's all in a day's work -- whether at home or at Disney! Have fun!!!!

I just got back from our trip with 3 children, the youngest being 6-months. Everything worked out great. He was wonderful on the plane, hotel, parks, restaurants. I did end up carrying him a lot, or using the snugli, so we're trying to wean him of that this week!!!

We actually chose to go at this point because in a few more months, he'd be wanting to be down on his own alot! Also, he's just starting solids, so we didn't have to worry about a NEED to lug along extra food.

I found several relaxing places to feed him. We fed him on Transit of Authority, Country Bears, Philarmagic and Muppets, train ride etc. We'd just plan for those types of long attractions for when he'd be hungry. He wasn't afraid of much. He didn't like being splashed during Philarmagic, but got over it quickly. He went on everything but the coasters and splash mountain!

We did need an entire suitcase devoted to his stuff!!! I even got creative and disassembled a bouncy seat to fit inside his suitcase, so we'd have something besides a stroller to put him in when we were in the hotel room.

I'd really love to know what goes through their minds with things like this. I can't tell you how many times my little guy awoke to find a huge mouse or another fun character in his face!!

You'll have tons of fun!!!! Take lots of pictures.

we took our baby last December when she was 3 months old, and let me tell you, she was a lot easier than her 6 year old sister!

I was bottle feeding too, and what I did was use the pre-measured sachets of formula, and filled my bottles with water, then I just made the bottles up as and when I needed them - no hassle at all, and no need to warm the bottles (as they weren't refridgerated). We fed anywhere and everywhere, in rides, on a bench, on the Tommorowland Transit Authority etc etc.

We used a baby bjorn and also a sling (similiar to a Maya Wrap), and they were both very useful, depending on teh size of your baby, the baby bjorn might not be too comfy anymore.
We also had a stroller and my dd was quite happily asleep in there most of the time.

the only slight difficulty we had was that our baby couldn't sit in a highchair yet - someplaces have an infant chair, but not many. sometimes we brought the carseat in, and other times the stroller, so we always managed, but it was an issue.
dd is now 6 months and manages our highchair ok, although the WDW ones don't have a back, so I am not sure if a 6 month old would be ok in there or not.

We took our DD for the first time when she was 5-1/2 months old. In fact, we drove down from New Jersey. My DW was breastfeeding at the time.

DD had a great time. She loved the lights, music, people, sensory stimulation, etc. In fact, the only problem we had was getting her to nap during the day because she was so overstimulated. We managed to wheel her stroller into a quiet corner of each park (yes, they do exist).

I highly recommend taking kids at every age as long as you are willing to go at the child's pace. Try to keep as close to a normal schedule as possible in regard to meal time, naps, bedtime, etc. and you'll be fine. I think where folks get into trouble is when they run the kids ragged from sun-up to midnite.

have you seen the shaker bottles? the ones that have two sections in them...one for water, one for formula....they stay separated....when its time to feed the kid, you just twist them and shake....those things are GREAT....we used them on every trip out of the house when our son was little

No I have not heard of those.... Who makes them? I am not a big fan of powder formula.. I like either consentrated cans or ready to feed... but I would be willing to check those out for our trip.

On the bottle topic--for our baby, we used the Playtex nurser bottles (the ones with the pre-formed disposable liner). Each morning in the hotel room I'd fill a few bottles with the right amount of formula powder; I'd cap these and toss them in the diaper bag. Then at feeding times in the parks I'd pour the corresponding amount of bottled water into a bottle, shake, and serve, and then toss out the used liner and rinse off the nipple. Of course, this only works if the baby will take the Playtex nipple and doesn't mind room-temperature formula.

Have a wonderful trip, and be sure to take lots of pictures--those memories will be priceless!

Luv2trav - just got back from a Jan trip with my then 4.5 mos old grandbaby. My daughter also prefers liquid formula so we bought a small insulated bag and put one full bottle and the plastic bottle of formula in it on ice each morning - just kept it in the bottom of the stroller. We took along a thermos (tip from the DIS) to warm the bottle in, but we soon stopped carrying it along as we were able to get a cup of hot water everywhere - everyone we asked was more than happy to fill a cup 1/2 full and we just stuck the bottle in it for a few minutes - warm enough! The other thing we loved having along was the rain shield for the stroller - kept her warm on cool or windy evenings - always kept it in the bottom of the stroller for those quick Fla rains - once it even rained unexpectantly while we were in an attraction and our stroller was the only dry one waiting! We were also able to take our stroller into the restaurants - sometimes we had to wait a little longer for a table where it would fit, but not long! Have fun - it was waaay easier than I expected - like everyone says, the baby centers are great- one morning DD forgot a bottle and they even had one for sale!:smooth:

We took both DSs when they were 6-7 mos old, and it was fine. They're very portable at that age.

We like the ready to use, but as you know- very expensive. My DS and DD were such good eaters that they could not tell the differnece between that and powdered, but I would try at home the powdered to see how it goes over. Keep in mind that since your baby is eating some foods, you don't have to worry as much about formula being the sole food.
