Am I crazy for considering a trip to DLR with a 15mo and a 2mo?!?

I only walk, just for the fact that I am alone with the kids. But with DH, the shuttle will still be a hassle but do-able. It's just that we put soooo much in our baskets underneath and would have to hold onto both kids, carry all the stuff we've shoved under there so we could fold it, and load the stroller. It's too much for me to handle personally if I don't absolutely have to!! But the walk to CCI is do-able after the parks also, it's really not all that far.

I think you should do it. Like everyone has said, definitely stay across the street and bring a bjorn or similar carrier. We went in Feb with our DD who was 5 months old at the time. She did great. We live about 7 hours away too and she did great on the drive. If your little one ends up being anything like ours, freeway driving puts her to sleep.

Plus, DLR is so stimulating with constant noises/music, I think that tends to make napping in the bjorn or stroller easier too. My DW would just keep her in the bjorn while on the rides. She actually slept through the drops on POTC! Granted, we didn't have a toddler with us as well, so I can't speak to that.

I would also recommend considering bringing along a Grandparent or two to help out! That's what we do.

PS- We are going in October and our DD will be 14 months old, so I'll let you know if I come up with any tips for a toddler at that age.

I hadn't thought of all the stuff that will end up in the stroller and then having to collapse it. That is some food for thought....

Goofy_Dave-I would appreciate any tips you come up with after your trip! It's hard for me to imagine him being 15 months old, and how he'll handle the rides, characters, night time stuff, etc.

Thanks again everyone! I'll look into the hotels across the street again. This will be the first trip where the resort will actually mean something to me because we'll actually be taking breaks at the hotel, and hanging out there most nights. I want to be comfortable, and still feel like I'm on vacation. I don't need the cheapest, but would rather stay somewhere moderate with a good atmosphere, room, and bed!

The driving at night is a great suggestion. We have been making trips to DL since my my nearly 7 year old DD was 7 months and have done it that way several times.

I can't tell you how nervous we were taking her to Disneyland her first time at 7 months. But my BIL and SIL were in California from TN so their son could check out USC. People kept telling us we were crazy to do it.

We ended out having a blast. Granted it was four adult and two teens all available to take care of one kid.

I don't think we went with our second daughter until she was 1 1/2, but if we had family visiting CA again or your reason for considering the trip, we would have taken her at a younger age.
