Am I being tacky???

I would say something more like "Well she is trying to save $270 to go to Discovery Cove next year. I know some folks are giving her VISA gift cards towards that , but I certainly don't want to dictate what you should give her".
I agree with this response. Now, if you went to them and said, "Hey, have you bought Suzy's present yet -- I'd like you to give her money." THAT would be tacky. Answering a question isn't tacky. The questioner is then free to accept or decline your answer.

That's what my sister did last year. She decided for EVERYone that we were all exchanging gift cards to the freakin mall. :earseek: Now mind you, the mall is 30 minutes away and my mom had just gotten out of the hospital so was unable to travel.

My sister's a nut.

I don't think it is tacky. I emailed my sister-in-law to ask what her kids wanted and she responded that one of my nephew's wanted money. I asked and she answered my question so I don't see anything wrong with that. Now if she had told me without me asking 1st then that would have been rude and tacky.
