ok.. last trip we packed like mules all over the parks with.. a fully stocked back pack survival kit. another "media" bag with cameras and the like. a stroller and other assorted junk (a tent, a water purification kit, portable fireplace.. kidding just kidding)

THIS trip I am wanting to try something scary. NOTHING AT ALL. a fanny pack containing.

cash
our tickets
sunblock
chapstick
some baby wipes
an outfit for my dd4 (garanimals from walmart fold TINY)

THATS it.. with a DD4 and a DD10 am I majorly risking a trip back to the hotel miday? OR do you think i can handle it?

Once you're done with the diaper thing, it's very freeing to go with just a fanny pack. :)

I pack a backpack in my suitcase in case we have a day when I think we'll need more than a fanny pack, or if we go to Epcot for some serious shopping, but other than that, once we were finished with diapers it was great not to feel like a pack mule in the parks.

I think you are being very smart!

On our first trip, we did the waaaaaaaay over pack things for the day.

The second trip I realized that I didn't need to bring everything including the kitchen sink with us while at the parks. LOL

I think you'll be just fine. The things you listed are the things we brought with us last year into the parks and we were just fine. I do think we brought in water bottles and our guidebook though.

I think you'll be just fine and much happier without dragging all that extra stuff around! :D

The only thing I would add to your pack are bandaids or moleskin for blisters and a couple bags of fruit snacks for the little one if she needs a quick snack until a ride is done. Light weight items at least!

After our numerous trips I'm finally learning that "less really is more"! :) I used to have everything including the kitchen sink in the diaper bag, hand sanitizer, wipes, toilet seat covers, a full pharmacy (not joking, DH is a doc!) but I have gradually toned it down to a sling bag that I carry that has spray on alcohol based sunscreen (SPF 25) that you don't really even need to touch, rain ponchos form the dollar store, a park schedule that I pick up at the gate and lip balm. My pharmacy consists of Goody powders for DH and myself and chewable tylenol for the kids. DH carries the room cards/tickets in his wallet and is in charge of the fast passes. Kids wear hats/ visors that will fit in my sling bag if they get tired. Sunglasses on top of my head and I'm ready to go! NEver knew it would feel so liberating to not carry a purse the size of Mtt. Rushmore on my shoulder all day. DH carries the digital camera in his pocket. This trip he claims that he'll carry the camcorder clipped to his belt. This trip will be a first for us, staying at the Swan instead of a WDW hotel so I have to remember to carry debit card/cash for food. Hmmmmmmmmmm, DH WILL have his wallet with him ;)

You WON'T be sorry... if there is an emergency, you can find something SOMEWHERE in the park to deal with it. By the time I had kid #2, I had switched from a fully stocked Land's End diaper bag to a ziplock bag with 1 diaper and 2 wipes in it. Less is MORE!!!

My suggestion- ditch the extra outfit, there's clothing for sale everywhere and you know you're going to end up buying a shirt or something anyways. Bring a water bottle and younger one's favorite small snack , they're always happy as long as they're not thirsty or hungry. Also, I only brought the camcorder or the camera to the park, not both. Don't forget those credit cards too!

we do a small back pack - and try to limit what we bring in - a couple bottle of water, sunscreen, camera and a few snacks - we all love the rides and in some places there is not a place to leave your backpack and you can't take it on the ride - less is more in this case!!!!

I always take one large fanny pack for me, and a small one on each of my daughters (for the autograph books and pens, and sunglasses!) - they like having their own. That's it! I've always wondered about those laundry lists of "what to take to the parks"! Sounds like you have a good plan - go for it!

I'd ditch the outfit and carry a water bottle or a couple of juice bags.

We usually have a backpack with water bottles in it that we just leave on the stroller when we ride -- if it were stolen it would not be a biggie...

Liberate yourself!

I hate to shock everyone, but the last trip, (our first after 9/11) I didn't want to stand in the security line. So, I doled out the necessities in various family members pockets, and we were walkind down Main Street, while others were still in line getting their purses checked. :jumping4:

I always carry a small back pack and a fanny pack. I haven't found a Disney World ride yet that I can't take it on with me.

I might over pack a bit, but I hate having to buy Disney World poncho's.

In my Fanny Pack are:
Tickets
ID
Money
Sun Glasses
Small Pack of Tissues
Little Hand Sanitizer bottle
Advil
Cell Phone

My backpack has:
Rain Poncho's
Small Digital Camera
Water Bottle
Pal Mickey (when my son gets tired of carrying him)

I leave the Backpack mostly empty when I start the day. It tends to accumulate things as the day goes on and we pick up souveniers.
I make sure to empty it each night to start with it the same everyday. Otherwise it would get heavy.

Have Fun!

I have gone through the entire range from many trips before a child to 15 trips now with my son. his first trip at 6 months and now he is five. It feels good to have no diapers or stroller to worry about. Everything we carry now fits into the pockets. Wipes (travel size), digital camera (Nikon 3700 - very small 3.2 meg takes great pics and VHS quality video at30 fps and very affordable under $125 on sale). Ids, money, tickets and etc are kept in a lanyard with pouch & zippered pockets.

I love the free feeling of having nothing to worry about, plus we get to go in the NO BAGS LINE!!!! this can save a good bit of time at busy times of the year.

We take one fannie pack (mine) or my travel purse I can sling over my shoulder. Both are small and lighweight. Inside I have camera, cell phone and/or walkie talkie, travel wallet, lip gloss, mole skin and maybe a nail file, bandaid and small comb/pic. Hubby takes a small denim backpack with rain ponchos, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and Tylenol/Advil but we keep it in the stroller. Even these items are sometimes cumbersome. I can't imagine taking anymore then we do!

Definately snacks and water, especially for the children. I hate standing
in line for a quick expensive snack, when I can just grab one from my back
pac for the kids,(and me) then continue on to our next destination!!!

Just looking at Cindy's list... just about all of that can be carried without a fanny pack or bag, as long as you have shorts/pants with pockets...

Tickets - back pocket
ID - back pocket
Money- back pocket/front pocket (or all 3 above can go in a lanyard)
Sun Glasses - on your face, on your head, or on a cord around your neck
Small Pack of Tissues - there is plenty of TP (and plenty of bathrooms) in WDW
Little Hand Sanitizer bottle - get the kind with the loop that fits on a beltloop if you don't like the bathroom soap...
Advil - single packets ( 2 packets should do)... front pocket
Cell Phone - get a belt clip

Rain Poncho's - I won't melt
Small Digital Camera- other front pocket if small enough, or around neck
Water Bottle- get a water bottle strap, or just carry it
Pal Mickey (when my son gets tired of carrying him)- no 'passengers' allowed without a ticket... Mickey is EVERYWHERE in the park without bringing one more

I am determined to walk around and enjoy 'empty handed'!!!!!

thanks for all the advice...

I will bring a water bottle.. and probably some of those little crystal lite packs since i dont drink soda. However the outfit for the dd4 stays. LAST trip we were in EPCOT and had an "accident" in the living seas. OUr suitcases were in bell services and our rooms werent ready yet I searched much of the rest of the day for something suitable to wear.

here is a suggestion for disney..

in park shops sell this

a prepackaged emergency outfit. panties, socks,t shirt and shorts ... maybe a small pack of baby wipes. I would have paid quite a bit for something like that in a pinch!

You might be on to something... and knowing Disney, they WOULD make you pay quite a bit for it. You are right about the Garanimals... they don't cost much, and pack up small... better yet- wear a set TO the park... that way if there is an accident, they can be 'disposeable' if necessary... I distinctly remember doing that once with a sick 2-year old at the airport in Orlando!! She went home in feetie pajamas, as everything else was in the luggage!!
