Am I being Judgemental?

Your reply makes absolutely no sense. I'm sorry, but even after reading it twice, I can't see it. You say they pay for it, then you aske why you would stay there on their money. That just makes no sense. I'm sorry. Maybe I'm reading wrong?

What I do not save (ex. If my trip will cost $8,000) and only saved $3,000, the give me the rest. So they pay and I pay.

Your trip for 4 would cost $8000? At POP? That just does not sound right. My trip for 5 at POR for 5 days with the DDxP is less than $3000. That just does not sound right at all.

Sliding scale just like fod stamps are according to your income. The food stamps are about to end if you can read and saw that, then what? They will still go to there activities because they need to stay in positive thing.

Are you on crack? Your writing skills are dreadful. Please do yourself a favor and take some classes so you can express your ideas, such as they are, in a manner that can be understood.:confused3

I have no more comments because I don't have time for my pressure to go up and Ill have to pay for a dr.'s visit and prescription that I could have gotten for free ON THE SYSTEM!!!!!

Was this only a threat? Why keep at it? You'll be defending yourself for days, and what will be accomplished? You're creating "good reading" but not helping yourself or your case in any way. People are just going to keep coming at you. I wish you luck and blessings in your life. If you don't want to come across as having a fighting attitude, you've got to let it go.

Wow, this thread is as bad as the old "Pool hopping" threads!
Can't we all just get along?:confused3

Anyway, I do have a couple comments to make.....

OP...to answer your original question; yes you are being judgemental...but that's ok because what your family member is doing is wrong and if they didn't want your opinion they shouldn't whine in your ear. :rolleyes1

EIC....Even though I do not qualify for this now, I did for a couple years while I went back to college. I was divorced, a single mom, and a student. I do not feel like I was a bum or lazy for getting this credit. True, I didn't take my kids to Disney with it; I put it in the bank to make sure I could take care of my family while I worked part time and went back to college. Since then I have graduated and obtained a VERY good job and I no longer qualify or need it.

I can understand how welfare fraud can make taxpayers angry, I don't care for it myself. :headache: I have a friend who is a social worker and you would not believe some of the stuff she tells me about the lengths some people will go not to have to work. It's really sad too because I will never understand why someone would choose that way of life. It's one thing to need help for one reason or another, but to choose to live below poverty is shameful.

JMHO, I love Disney just like the next DISer but if the government has to help feed my family it may not be the right time for an expensive vacation. :confused3

My family's 1st trip was 08/07, and I paid for it by saving for a year. Sure, I would have liked to take them while they were younger but I wasn't financially able to. Fast forward to the present...I work hard, save what I can, and plan for our next trip; which is next summer for two weeks! Like my mom always said "you appreciate things so much more when you work for them". ;)

OK...off my soap box now! :goodvibes

I think that was just an example. I had to re-read it too.

Thank you and thank you for the blessings. Some people are just mean, hiding behind a vail of pixie dust. This was loving place until today, I hope you are all happy.

SOLUTIONS!!!!!!!!YOU HAVE ANY!!!!!!! THEN MIND YOUR BUSINESS. i AM DOING WHAT i HAVE TO RIGHT NOW, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, SO WHAT

Oh, I have solutions for you, but they would require you to start acting like a responsible adult. PM when you're ready to make the tough choices we grown-ups make. ;)

You're doing what you want to do, not what you have to do. You've said so yourself more than once on this thread.

That includes WDW tix, Universal ticket (Usually the autotrain but we are driving this year), Howard Johnsons MGE for 14 niights, Nick for 3 nights and pop for 7, gas, food and shopping. That's for my 3 kids and I and my niece. And that was an estimate.

You get to spend a month in FL? That is not a vacation that is being a snowbird. And it will be over Christmas, when one pays rack rate.

She works so hard she needs this.:snooty:

You are right and I will do my best to fix the problem as I see fit and with the choices I have. Thanks. I have not figured out a solution for my chilcare problem if I went back into retail, but then i haven't tried:confused3 . I do know when I ask around, no one is hiring because the economy is so screwy, but who knows, I'll just keep praying on it.

Wow! Forget money, You are soo lucky to get so many vacation days! I would kill for that. (Really, I'm not trying to be mean, I just hope you appreciate how lucky you are to be able to take a trip like that, regardless of who pays for it).

I do appreciate it and I save every vacation and personal day I can. I should have almost 3 weeks by the time I leave. And I love my uncle and aunt so much. I tell them how thankful I am and tell them i love them as often as possible:lovestruc . They are my world since my mom passed. They spoil me because I was the only one taking care of my mom before she passed. I have always been very very close to them.:grouphug:

Week before last, dh's family was around. One family member shares her woes about how her husband works only such and such hours because if they work too many more, they'll lose food stamps and goes on to whine that they don't have $350 for their heating bill. She further talks about how she can't work b/c she can't afford a sitter and of course, if she works, she'll lose govt assistance. Which really began to irritate me. Her husband works less than 20 hours per week. She doesn't work at all. Haven't they heard of working opposite shifts? Both kids are in school from 8-3. Can one of them not get a full time and the other a part time working opposite shifts? And then comes the clincher for me--somehow, she was able to pay $2000 for an upcoming Disney trip! Now, how do you pay to go to WDW when you don't have $350 for your gas bill?

I said nothing to her, but my question is this, am I being too judgemental?

Sorry, didn't read through most of the posts but I just wanted to say, No - you're not being judgemental. It drives me crazy how some people manage to "work the system" while so many others are working thier tails off and still losing their homes, etc. I have a friend who also gets financial assistance from the gov't - she is married and lives at her parent's house with her hubby and 3 kids. They pay absolutely NO "household" bills (electricity, heating oil, etc - all paid for by her parents) - once in a while they grab groceries, with food stamps of course, that's about it. She actually told me straightforward once that she has to keep her cell phone plan because that's the only bill she has in her name at her parents address and that she would loose her "benefits" if she didn't have that bill as "proof of address".

Most of the replies on this thread come from people who work hard to support their families. Surely you can understand how we feel outraged when someone comes along and basically brags about how they are able to spend 24 days in Florida at WDW and Universal while they rely on government assistance to feed their children. Add to that, the fact that you seem proud to rely on our tax dollars to support yourself and your children, and it’s more outrageous to most of us.

You can’t possibly have 24 days of paid vacation at your job. How will you manage to pay your bills with the lose of your meager salary for almost a month? Or will that drop in income qualify you for even more assistance?

You took care of your mother? She worked right up until her death according to you:confused3

My mother was a teacher with a bachelors degree at this very job (where she aslo passed away at, right in front of this job of a heart attack)

Not judgemental at all! I am tired of paying for people to be lazy! I am sure they have a cell phone and cable too!

There are so many people I know like this!!!!

I work HR at a major retail chain and you would be surprised at the number of employees that come in and quit because it is going to affect their government assistance. I bet we have a couple a week. No wonder we can't keep any help!! Think about it next time you are standing in long line at the store.
