Am I a dope for purchasing a 2042 contract?

That’s the only way you can compare value on contracts and is exactly how people do compare resorts/contracts against each other. :)
I don't agree. You aren't taking into account what you can get for that 100 point contract. To compare similar categories and include weekend nights:

With 100 points at VGF:
4 nights- 2 weekend and 2 weekday nights in a Lakeview 1 bedroom during travel period 2, every other year (188 points)

With 100 points at Riviera:
4 nights- 2 weekend and 2 weekday nights in a Preferred 1 bedroom during travel period 2, every other year (182 points)

But with my 100 points at BW:
6 nights- 2 weekend and 4 weekday nights in a Boardwalk View (arguably the best view on property) 1 bedroom during travel period 2, every other year (184 points)

The ppp calculations don't account for your points buying you more at the 2042 resorts, and I don't think anyone's figured out a way to value the home resort period at BW/BC.

I actually stay in studios when I'm on my own so my points go even further. One caveat: I'm in my 60's so the chances of me using those longer contract points would be the one for the fairytales. :rotfl: :wizard: Pixie dust anyone?

ETA: If the financial aspect is more important to you, and you aren't aiming for BW/BC then my comments aren't relevant to you. As a previous poster said, life is short, do what makes you happy.

Late to this thread, but I’m always team buy where you want to stay. We’re on the younger side but BCV is our favorite WDW home. I’m always tempted to add more points. The walk to Epcot can’t be beat, and we way prefer entering through the IG.

For those that currently own at BCV, what has been your experience with booking studios at 11 months during peak times? How hard it is to get one? I’m thinking specifically of Thanksgiving and Presidents’ Day/Princess Half Marathon.

The only times that are rough for studios consistently at BCV are New Years Eve (walking definitely happens every year) and Marathon weekend (usually books up immediately at 11 months). Thanksgiving and Princess weekend you’ll absolutely be fine if you book right at 11 months.

I bought at one (BWV) and bought longer contracts at other resorts as well for my other points, Due to the location and lower point charts now I always look and see if I can sneak into BC or BWV at 7 months with my other points and will sometimes upgrade to a 1 bedroom at one of them since those are more available. This lets me save my BWV points for future years, but still lets me stay there regularly. I like stretching my Crescent Lake points and stays!

We just closed on a 2042 contract resale 150 points at BRV@WL...So after two 7 nighters at the Poly the membership is payed for...You will still get 18 years of DVC enjoyment. We go every year sometimes twice and usually stay at POP so for us it was the deal of the century ( we got a smokin' good deal) ..We can now look forward to 18 years of livin' the Deluxe resort life....I SAY GO FOR IT!!!
