Well, I have it on the best authority that journaling does help with weight loss. I have always given up with keeping a journal before but I have committed to checking in at a minimum of once a week. My scales tell me this morning 235 - I'm completely ashamed of myself for letting my weight spiral out of control like I have done. But.....no use dwelling on the past the present and future are where it's at now. I have joined a local gym and have had some sessions with one of the personal trainers who has set me up an aerobics and weights programme. I'll be solo, without the trainer, for the first time tomorrow - wish me luck!! I am determined not to feel self-concious in the gym and to concentrate only on myself and my journey. I'll check in again soon.

Good luck at the gym tomorrow, Alyson! Here's some extra pixie dust :wizard: to help you.

Journalling has really helped me and continues to help me. My journal is over 40 pages now!! When I'm really feeling bad about things, I reread it and am amazed at far I've come and what I've learned about myself along the way. I hope you find the journal just as helpful!

We're here to cheer you on, answer questions, support you over the rough spots and celebrate your successes. :sunny: Be sure to post how the gym visit goes tomorrow, OK? ::yes::

Hi Allyson - welcome to the wonderful world of journaling! I am not as accomplished as Doe but I have found keeping a journal is really really helping me. I am so grateful to have not only a record of my progress and feelings as I go through this weight loss journey but the support from the ladies on this forum has been, well, it's hard to even put it into words. You'll see;).

I look forward to reading further postings from you in your journal. Btw, I started at 282.5 pounds. I can't believe I am even typing that number! I am also under 5'1" so you can imagine how much of a bowling ball I must look like but I am taking things one day and one pound at a time. I'm doing South Beach and work out every day. I have lost 19 pounds since 12/1/03 and I will reach my goal! So will you!!!

See ya' later!
