My neighbor and I were shopping and we noticed some water bottles marked 100% Aluminum. My neighbor said that since there was not a sticker on them indicating they were BPA free then they had BPA in them. I told her that since aluminum wasn't a plastic it was then, by default, BPA free.

Just like if you bought a new set of glasses for your kitchen. If you bought glass, by the nature of the material, BPA free. Per her reasoning, not unless there was a sticker saying so.

One of us is mistaken. :confused3

I think you are right.

You would be correct. Now the other worry is there is an assumed risk of aluminum and Alzheimer so do you want the aluminum water bottle??

I think you are right also - only plastic has BPA, glass and aluminum are by definition BPA free. Of course, as already pointed out aluminum has its own risks and you could also drop a glass container, cut yourself and bleed to death.

My family will continue to use our BPA containing plastic water bottles!
