Hi. My 3 DD's don't seem too interested in getting autographs this trip. :confused3 When I asked why, my middle told me that her book from 2004 is starting to get ripped etc, Anyway say I was to get autographs, what else other than an autograph book could I use.

Hat, messenger bag, ??? any suggestions?

I got a 4 x 6 photo album from Dollar Tree that has Pooh and friends on the cover. I put 4 x 6 cardstock in different colors inside the pockets and I will just take one out every time to autograph. I will then add pictures and decorations!!! Leaving tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would recommend pin trading instead of the autographs. My kids have had a blast trading pins with the Disney cast members, and they are a much better souvineer from your trip. My kids usually pick a theme and try to collect pins that would go - princesses, Minnie Mouse, Sorcerer Mickey, Star Wars, etc. The pins are so cute that I even gave in and started collecting on our last trip! They're really fun to look at when you get home.

I have also heard that a lot of guests collect the pressed pennies. I guess there are machines all around the parks and resorts and people bring shiny pennies from home. Sure beats waiting in line to greet the characters.I think that we are going to try that this year. Does anyone else have info on this? I heard there is a special book that you can keep your pennies in.

A Pooh storybook if you're going to the Crystal Palace...or a Princess storybook if you're dining with the Princesses...etc.! :teeth:

I make custom 6x6 or 4x6 cards with my kids name, reason we were at WDW, first trip, birhtday etc. and a picture of the character

the characters LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing their picture on a page and they will write personal messages - on the 6x6 pages they have more room to write

then when we get home, I put the pages with the kids photos with the characters and we have an instant scrapbook that the kids love. Plus they have pictures of when they got the autographs and will say to me "remember how Buzz thumped out happy birthday on his chesst for me?" or stuff like that

They look at their autographs all the time and the pages are in great condition b/c they are in protective sleeves

I have also made a design and ironed it onto pillowcases and had that signed - my little girl likes her autograph pages a lot more!!

How about a pillow case?? You would need a clipboard or something that is hard that they could write on and different color sharpies. Very cute!!!

This is a great idea! How do you keep them so nice while you are at the parks....binder, folder???

I carry them in a ziploc baggie - I buy a small clipboard (about $2 at staples) and put the page I want the character on there to sign -

Each night we put all the signed pages in a seperate ziploc bag that stays in the room

One year we bought my son a stuffed dinosaur, the one from toy story. It was at MGM. Then we had Woody, Buzz and (I forget the girls name). All sign it.
Buzz usually just uses a stamp signature but he did a great job signing the
stuffed animal. They used their black marker and it worked great.
He has slept with it for a year and a half and the signatures are still there and he will often say remember when...

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I guess I just have to realize my DD's are growing up and getting autographs just isn't as appealing as it was. We did get into pin trading last trip so they have been getting out their pins and deciding which to keep and which ones to trade. We are also planning on getting cheaper pins from around here to use for pin trading.

I like the pillow case idea.

27 days until we leave for Disney! (We are driving) :moped:

Instead of using an autograph book we buy a postcard for the trip and have the characters that we meet sign it. I then hang it on the fridge at home (and will eventually go into the scrapbook.

My daughter had all the characters use a sharpie to sign a plain pink baseball cap. It looks really good and she wears it a lot (she's soon-to-be 9). She put a tinkerbell pin on it as well. It was really easy to carry around the parks (she wore it). I would just put it in my backpack if it rained.
She's taken it with her on two trips now - it's covered in autographs - even the underside of the bill. She gets comments on it all the time whether at home or at Disney.

When my boys were little we went to Steelers training camp and had them wear Steeler T-shirts and just had players sign their shirts. It was easy and the only fumbling around you had to worry about was for a sharpie pen.

I don't see why this wouldn't work just as well at WDW. Just buy a light colored Disney T-shirt and a few sharpies of various colors.

We were told the characters can not sign the clothes while they are being worn. We carried the t-shirts and had them signed that way. We also did the hat ( bucket style has more room for signatures) and messinger bag thing. My DD's (9 & 11) love the bags. They use them all the time. I try and get to the Market place first & see what they have that is different for signing. I bring my different colored sharpies from home.

The clip board is a good idea for any clothing. we have used menus and tour books for the characters to lean on.

Use your imagination.

If they're not interested in autographs this trip, I wouldn't worry about it. I was thrilled when my kids got over the need for autographs since that left us more time for doing the rides and other things.

Many years ago I got a Pluto which turned out to be an autograph stuffed animal. It had smooth "skin" like sheets so it was easy to write on. You can get like Blank Visors or whatever at like Target for a couple $. One year, we went to a concert and we didn't have any paper and we had the band sign our bandanas (this is pretty good, it was about 3 years ago and I wore the bandana every day and it got washed a lot and the signitures only faded a little bit, with Sharpies).

A visor or baseball cap would be easy for the characters to sign with different color sharpies. When doing a character meal I may bring a shirt for them to sign...they could sign on the table..

Another idea is to bring a photo mat.. you could do a smaller one.. and have them sign it... would look cute with it around a pic in a frame :cool1:

I am making a memory quilt for my DS5 and DD2. :goodvibes I take a few small embroidery hoops with a piece of cotton fabric in each one. I carry extra pieces of 6"x6" cut fabric pieces. The kids get the characters autograph on the piece of fabric. I will then piece together a quilt block with fabric with the autograph, a piece of fabric with a photo printed onto it of the kids with that character and then two more pieces of coordinating fabric. Confused? :confused3 It makes a block that is about 10"x"10 total. It sounds like a lot of work but the kids just get the siggies. I piece it little by little at home. I think it will make a great way to remember all the great times we had when they are older.
I also know someone who went to Epcot on their first night there. At the end of the Journey Into Imagination ride their is an area where you can have your families photo taken and it looks like you are standing in front of the castle. The can print it as big as poster size. They get a poster of the pic and then have all the characters sign around the edge of the photo. They had it framed and it is in their family room. It looks awesome! :teeth:

I LOVE your idea for a quilt. Would love to see a picture of what you have. I only wish that I knew how to put it all together. :guilty:
