Just wondering if anyone out there has suggestions on how to move my 75 lb daughter around the World next month? She is too heavy for a typical stroller (at least one that we own), but has low muscle tone and tires easily. If we hope to see the parks and get around, we will need to push her around in some sort of vehicle that can hold her weight. Any ideas?

It's a little late to order a Pogon stroller but the Disney strollers will hold a 12 year old so you should be ok with one of their strollers.

When my autistic daughter (also with low tone) became to tall to fit in the double stroller comfortably, we rented a wheelchair for her. We tried a couple of days to allow her to walk, but for many reasons, it did not work out well for us.

I was afraid she would not like the chair, but she loved it. It is higher off the ground than the Disney strollers, giving her improved visual stimulation and it gave her a buffer from the crowds. I have already rented a wheelchair from an off-site company for our upcoming visit for the entire week of our stay. I won't take her without it now.

Do you know where I could order one of these and how much they cost, just in case I could get it in time? I googled for it and could only find one for sale on ebay. Is there a place you know of that sells them? Thank you!

I would have your doctor write a prescription for a medical stroller and let the insurance pay for it. There are several kinds to choose from just take the prescription to a medical supply store that sells wheelchairs and they should be able to help you. However it will take a long time to get one.

This link has a place that is near Disney and rents the Maclaren Major Buggy Stroller for $50 a week.

Thanks for the link! Yes, we can rent from them for $58.68 for the week, including delivery and pick up. Great idea!

I will call our MD in the morning to check on a prescription. I think our insurance will cover some amount, so we will check on that too. Thanks again!

We just got back last week and my 90lb 4 1/2 foot 8 year old autistic son fit just fine in the double stroller with room to spare.
